Up for sale is my 1936 Chrysler Airstream. When I found this car it was in very poor shape. The floors were rusted and mostly gone. The two piece windshield had bullet holes through it (which I still have). There was a bullet hole that came through the roof and I later learned it broke one of the glass bezels on the instrument panel. On the passenger side front fender. while doing some body work. it appeared to have bullet holes that had been filled in with lead. and some of that lead is still there.
A lot of parts were and are still with the car. minus the bumpers. I have the bumper brackets. but no the chrome bumpers or the trim for the car. I do have the original door handles and window cranks. I also have the original seat. which is rusty. but possibly repairable. I have the seat springs as well. This car has a different engine and transmission. They are both from a later 1950's Dodge and it runs and shifts as it should. The car was converted from 6 volt to 12 volt to make it easier to find electronic parts. The fenders were replaced with sheet metal that doesn't pop and crack and make noise. The bucket seats are out of Dodge Daytona and just need to be hooked up to the electric to move. This was also to make it more enjoyable to drive and more comfortable.
I still have the heater box and half moon heater core. It did not have a fuel tank when I got it. so one was placed in the trunk and the car runs fine on that. I did not want any cutting or shopping or haphazard modifications done. so I would not allow it nor would I do it. I didn't even want phillips head screws to be used . as they were not used originally on this year. The headlights and running lights work. I have not found a brake switch for the brakes. The rear end is original. The drums have been changed front and rear. They are from a 50's model Plymouth. They just need hoses and lines. Thi;s car is also running the original radiator with no leaks. It can be driven now and I do occasionally. I just drive slowly through the neighborhood and use the emergency brake to stop.
When This car was built I tried to keep everything Mopar. right down to the rims. which are also from that same 50's model Plymouth. So this car has not been cut into two pieces and sub-framed like most people do. There was too much original to just make it a rat rod. so I went this route and have gotten a lot of praise from older people that just stop by to look at it and appreciate it for not being done that way. It's a unique and fun car to own and when I take it out just to drive it a little it draws so much attention. It's not like anything else on the road and everything today looks the same.
Anyone is welcome to stop by and look at the car. by appointment of course. No scammers or crooks because I don't have time for that. I don't really want to get rid of this car. but I have too many projects at this time. Someone can take it at this stage. and with very little work and time. have an awesome unique vehicle that not too many people have the privilege of owning. There are no lies to tell about it. I'll answer any questions honestly and true to my knowledge. This car was last tagged in 1976/1977 and has a clear title.
