As much as I am going to regret this Im putting my bus up for sale.

It's 1974 UK RHD Twin slider bay.

Originally a Devon converted mini bus.

Mot passed with no advisories on 30th july.

Tax-free.

This bus has had everything its needed. no expense has been spared at all and I have literally put about 3 years of my life into building it. Its not been an easy decision to make.

anyway. I bought the bay in 2012 as a project.

It had just had the following replaced:

. Front panel.

. Deformation panel.

. Passenger Cab door re skinned.

. New drivers cab door.

. Passenger front complete arch.

In my owner ship it has then had the following:

. Drivers complete arch.

. Driver and passenger floor section.

. Raised tubs with new seat belt mounts.

. Both outer B pillars.

. Both front arch closing panels.

. All new out riggers and jacking points.

. Top hats cut back and new ends where needed.

. Inner. middle and outer cills both sides.

. Repairs to C pillars

. Both rear inner archers repaired and then new outer arches.

. Both rear corners and bottoms of  D pillars.

. Both battery trays.

. Inner and outer rear valence.

. One sliding door was a rust free import other has had lower skin.

. New window surrounds where needed.

. Both rear arches have new front and back closing panels.

. New rear seat belt mounts

. A few small floor repairs in the back.

. Cross braces on the inside of rear quarters had been removed so I sourced body cuts and put them both back in.

. I stripped the under side and then rust treated. primed and painted it. It's had a coat of epoxy mastic and then waxoyld including inside the panels and chassis.

All panels used were the more expensive German quality from custom commercial and schofields etc etc.

Every new panel was stripped. primed and painted inside and out before being fitted.

The paint isn't to a show car standard but it looks good. I asked the body shop to leave the dents etc to minimise the amount of filler on the bus so it's definitely not perfectly straight but I wanted it to be usable and to not be worrying about dents etc.

It's had a complete bus rubber kit from Custom Commercial so they are all good quality. I also bought all original chrome handles and had all the locks matched to the ignition key.

When it arrived the wiring had been chopped about so I stripped it all out and bought a vw looms a complete new wiring loom. Its also had a new battery with an aircooled works battery isolator kit and new ignition switch.

There is also a new leisure battery in the engine bay with a new split charge system.

There is a fuse box under the rear bench. 2 USB ports and 1 12v sockets hidden in each of the rear arm rests.

The engine has an alternator for charging the battery's.

Engine is a recon 1600 single port that came with the bus.

While it was out it had new barrels and pistons. heads cleaned and valves re seated. New seal kit with rear main seal.

All tin ware was stripped and painted satin black.

It has a newly reconditioned original Solex carb and correct single port dizzy that I bought from Rage in Holland.

New plugs. leads and fuel pump.

New fuel lines and fuel filler pipe.

Stainless beetle exhaust and pipes for clearance.

Gearbox selects fine. that had new seals both ends while it was out and new spring kit. Clutch was good but I fitted a new clutch cable kit.

All new good quality cv joints and boots etc.

Brakes were completely removed.

Now has all new brake pipes and hoses.

New full rear drum kit both sides.

New pads up front.

Callipers and master are the originals.

Custom made hose brackets on the callipers.

New brake pedal return spring.

New hand brake cables

It has a new accelerator pedal kit and a new Butty's bits complete throttle kit that makes a massive improvement.

Also has a new accelerator cable.

The steering column was a bit rattily so I fitted a new lite steer upper bearing and it now feels like a different bus. Nice and tight.

New 3 point inertia seat belts in the front and a lap belt in the rear.

There are mounting points for 2 fixed 3 point belts in the back also.

Because I wanted it low I bought a complete king and link conversion kit from Slamwerks.

So it's on a 4. 5” adjustable K&L beam with Brazilian dropped spindles.

The kit came with all new leaves. Track rods. Ends. link pins. steering pins and slam shocks front and back.

On the rear it's now down 2 outer splines and sitting on adjustable spring plates.

Notched front and rear quite neatly so it looks stock. All done using 5mm plate and we over plated both sides of the chassis so there's a lot more metal gone back in than came out.

The wheels are 5x112 fuch reps that I bought polished and detailed myself.

Fronts are 4. 5's with 165 50 15's and the rears are 5. 5's with 185 65 15's.

It rides really nice considering how low it is but obviously being adjustable it's quite easy to raise it to suit you if you wanted.

Because it has raised tubs and we wanted to keep the original seats and the drivers still fully adjustable we stripped both seats then Shortened the springs to allow for the height of the tubs and then rebuilt the adjustment in side the seat rather than below where it would foul on the tubs.

The interior has all been custom built.

I aimed to make it look early with a bit of a Devon style. It has 2 opposite facing bench seats with tables that drop into a bed. Arm rests either side with USB points and storage.

Plenty of storage under the seats and an overhead locker.

All surfaces have been laminated and edged with Devon trim.

I have custom made the floor edging. table mounts. table legs and mounts. head lining strips and so on out of hard wood. The rest of the interior is made of ply and the headlining made from flexi ply. Its all been stained to match and then waxed. Before fitting the interior panels I used anti vibration sound deadening on all panels and then insulated everything including the roof.

All the seats have been professionally trimmed by Waboo automotive using ox blood red distressed leather (used on chesterfield sofas) and art of the loom tweed fabric.

The curtains. arm rests and sun visors are all in matching material.

The foam is 4' thick high-density foam. which has only been slept on a handful of times.

There is probably still loads of information I have forgotten but I have a folder full of receipts and plenty of photos to show anyone seriously interested.

Being picky… the paint inside was quickly blown over so it's not amazing.

There's a few scratches but you wouldn't see them if I didn't point them out.

For some reason one sliding door has stopped locking. was fine before so I think it just needs a bit of wd40. which I will do.

Steering box is leaky but I have bought another that's had new seals as a back up if needed. The leaky one is fine though so It hasn't been a priority to change.

My next job was to sort out the heating. it has heat exchangers but I haven't plumbed any pipe work in yet. I have all the dash pipework in a box. which will come with the bus. Again it hasn't been a priority as it hibernates in the winter.

The only reason I'm selling is because I fancy a change. If I could afford to keep it and buy another project I would.

The bus is also being featured in the next Hayburner magazine which I believe is out mid to late August.

Any questions please feel free to ask and obviously any viewings are more than welcome.

I have really struggled to decide on a price as in all honesty I don't want to sit and add up what I have spent and I hate to think of how many the hours iv spent working on it.

The insurance agreed evaluation is £24. 00 and a few people have advised me what they would advertise it for so I have gone with their advice.

Price is £19. 00 obo. Please feel free to contact with offer's.

Im not really looking for a px as I already have my next project in sight.

Thank you for looking.

Russ.
