EXTERIOR
This beautiful unmolested MK1 Golf GTi is finished in the classic factory Mars Red. (Code LA3A) and maintains a deep shine having never been painted or restored and garaged all its life.   The rubbers side mouldings. lights and all other body trimmings are perfect and scuff free.   An out of sight scuff under the front plastic bumper on the near side and minor undulations on the rear valance to the same side are barely worth a mention.   The original green tinted glass is security etched.   The identification sticker on the boot cross member is present and has the vital ‘Campaign' option codes of 707 and 750 matching the vehicle data sticker in the service book.   Original. preserved and very special.

INTERIOR
Body-hugging reclining sports seats finished in the red/orange/black stripe are in remarkable condition and match the black headlining and carpeting all pristine. clean and unworn.    None of the plastic trim has been damaged and all the controls work as they should including the original dealer fit Blaupunkt Paris R23 tape player and multi-function digital computer.   The unique ‘Campaign' leather trimmed sports steering wheel shows very little wear.   Optional centre console sports gauges work with precision and complete this incredible. factory original interior.   

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This cult-setting car is in excellent mechanical order and really boasts what early GTi ownership should be about - tremendous fun!  The engine produces 112bhp at 5800rpm and 109Nm of torque. enough to sprint to 60mph in 8. 2 seconds. It really drives perfectly with a distinctive. addictive exhaust note.   The engine bay is detailed and spotlessly clean.   The 5 speed sports gearbox is precise and is a joy to use.  This hot hatch is exactly how the manufacturer intended.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
This superb Golf GTi is fitted with the unique. Campaign only. and highly desirable 6J x 14 Pirelli alloy sports wheels which all remain in excellent condition. They are shod in correct and new Pirelli P6000 185/60 R14 tyres.   The servo-assisted diagonally divided dual-circuit braking system with discs in front and drums at rear do an adequate job of stopping the car.  

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Jack Barclay VW Dealers on the 7th October 1983 to Morgan Guaranty Ltd. (now part of J. P. Morgan & Company). who sold the vehicle one year later after 3. 37 miles.   The second owner. Mr Paul Gittings. purchased the car for £7. 19. 50 and was completely fanatical and obsessive.   His 13 year diary remains in the history file and logs everything in incredible detail.   Spark plug changes for example were as often as 2000 miles and even the spark plug box lids were cut off and stuck in the diary!  Needless to say the following five keepers have all cherished this car belonging to ‘Club GTi' and keeping it in perfect. factory standard condition.   The mileage at 161. 42 will not be believed upon scrutiny.

The original VW Dealer blue document holder is also with the car and contains all the owner's manuals and instruction pamphlets. Even the Blaupunkt stereo range catalogue is present from 1983!
