1968 Mercedes 280SE W108

Up for sale is my 1968 280SE Automatic. which I have owned for 6 years. The car has only 63. 00 miles from new. with lots of history to back this up. and is in splendid condition. It's been well looked after in my care. maintained regardless of expense. and everything works as it should from a mechanical and electrical perspective.

It's got black MB Tex interior. and the dashboard woodwork is in good order. All the clocks. gauges and interior lights work perfectly. and since I had the heater matrix re-cored a few years ago. that's all working well with no leaks too (unlike many of these cars)

Bodywork wise. it's solid and very presentable. I've shown it at a few shows. and it always gets admired. Nevertheless. I'd describe the paintwork as an 'older restoration'. given that there are a few small areas that could do with some improvement.

Mechanically. the smooth 6 cylinder engine purrs well. and pulls nicely up to motorway speeds. I've fitted the engine with Crane Cams electronic ignition for extra reliability. I was confident enough to drive it to Spain and back a few summers ago. where it worked performed faultlessly as a perfect grand tourer for the whole family.  See here for a little video of the engine running:

Sadly however. it's got to go. and has been priced to sell. We've got a third child on it's way. and I've been told that it needs to make room for a boring people mover.

The car is based in Thames Ditton in Surrey. which is very close to Surbiton (20 minutes from London Waterloo).
