1970 BRAZILIAN VARIANT 1600 -SQUARE FRONT EARLY MODEL THE ONLY ONE IN THE UK

The kind of face only a mother could love ?   Fell out of the ugly tree smacking every branch on the way down ?   Looks that could sour milk ?
OK. it would be fair to say the styling is somewhat unique. but this is the only early square front Variant in the UK ! and I only know of one other in Europe . It would be also fair to say no one will have a clue what it is.
I can tell you it is an early Brazilian Variant. it has a 1600 engine - air cooled of course.   It has a swing axle gearbox at the rear and uses a Beetle beam up front.   This means the parts are readily available and it also means you have access to a whole array of tuning and more specifically lowering parts.  I am sure there are people who will read this and appreciate this fine automobile in its standard form. but I know there will be a lot of you who can relate to the jaw dropping transformation a slam job and set of wheels would have on this unique car!
It is the only one here - it will put you . your company or your madness firmly into the attention of anyone who sees it at a car show or more specifically a Volkswagen event.  
So the car itself is pretty good. it has managed to survive the ravages of Brazilian life without too many issues - paint is fresh. good but not show standard. tThe body is straight. good but not show standard.   The mechanics are . starting to get the idea ? It runs and drives. steers and stops pretty nicely. but needs a couple of days worth of tinkering and adjusting.
The car has been sympathetically restored in Brazil. paint. interior etc - it needs a few things doing to be MOT ready like tyres. pedal and seat adjustment. and general checking of the bolt on suspension bits-  silly little jobs but ones which make little sense if replacing a stock beam with lowering components . and stock wheels with some Fuchs for example. It is pretty free from corrosion but has a couple of very small repairs to the pan - I don't think welding skills are called for too often in Brazil and the small holes have been welded in a way which I would best describe as poor.    Easily rectified though. and not a great worry.
The panel fit is ok. nbsp; the car is straight and aside from evidence of a tap to the rear is free from accident damage.
If you are interested in this car I would suggest like me the sheer oddball factor and unique aspect are the driving factors.    Turning up anywhere in a car no one else has seen in the flesh must be an amazing feeling.   I should take the opportunity to do it myself really. but I genuinely do not have the time with an early bus and early Kabrio seeking attention.
