This auction is for my lovely 65 Beetle in SeaBlue. I bought it a year ago on ebay as I'd been looking for an original car for daily use.  This is the nicest one I could find at sensible money!
The car is in a very nice condition for its age. The paint has odd blemishes and scuffs but nothing major and the beauty of this car is that it hides nothing. It is very original and very solid. The car seems to have been owned by one owner for most of its life then sold to the previous owner for one year. he did 400 miles in it. then I bought it last year.
When I collected it was obvious that the whole underneath of the car had been very thoroughly undersealed. but clearly we needed to check that out. so it was checked properly.  It needed a little bit of welding to a tiny area on the floorpan. nothing serious or structural and done by One On One Restorations in Nelson. classic VW specialists. and if you're into old VWs you'll know the standard of their work and how many magazine feature cars and trophy winners they've built. Whilst there. the car was serviced and the horrible seats were retrimmed by Chris at Trimming Tonic in vinyl and fabric that matched the original upholstery. and it's truly stunning. Super comfy and v pretty. I then set about cleaning the interior and the doorcards. headliner and seatbelts all came up really well. This car has been very well looked after in the past and it shows.
There's a load of paperwork and records with the car. including some really nice VW dealer documents and even a load of service history! There's a record of loads of oil changes and of the engine being overhauled 8000 miles ago. It starts with a quick rattle when cold but settles down immediately to run very smooth - a little end float is present but it runs very nicely indeed. It pulls like a train up to 55mph. which is about as fast as I like to take the 1200. It sips fuel as well. which is nice.  It shifts nicely. 2nd gear can be a little elusive if you don't know where to find it but the original HAGA locking shifter might need adjusting. or ditching for an original shifter and ebaying the HAGA for big bucks!
The carpets look a bit ropey in the usual places by the doors but it's very nice behind the back seat.  Heater channels all look tip top. nbsp; The heater blows strong and warm. The jack is there. the spare looks great and the wheelwell is fantastic.
The wings have been replaced with fibreglass ones at some point and weren't particularly well prepped. as there are faded swirls in the paint - no bubbles or blisters though. I haven't bothered to do anything about it but a paint shop wouldn't charge much to do them properly. A wash and wax makes it much less obvious.
It's still 6V. and the original glovebox is super clean and contains a few 6V bulbs. and other service spares. Wheels are original paint. A few areas on the body have spots where the original blue has worn through a little from polishing. which I really like. There's a neat little compass on the dash. and a cool tax disk holder. both nice period accessories. There's a lovely little surprise in the ashtray as well. but you'll have to view it to see that ;)
The front. rear and side window seals were a bit tired so these have recently been replaced. as have the door seals. so it's nice and dry inside. The original Blaupunkt has L and M bands and works great.
You're welcome to view. test drives will need to be with a deposit and proof of insurance cover. Usual rules. you bid to buy. It's a really. really nice one. and deserves a good home with someone who'll look after it. Reserve is realistic for a car in this condition - I want it to sell and I don't expect it to hang around!
The car can be viewed just outside Tunbridge Wells. Kent. just about 20 mins off the south east corner of the M25 and 40 miles from central London.  I use it daily so mileage will change a little but not much. Call me on 07767 701920 or message with any questions.
My company does a lot of international shipping so I can help any overseas buyers with transportation.
