1972 vw early bay window crossover 2000 cc 6 rib box sierra yellow westfalia

After much consideration unfortunately for us we are listing up our beautiful bay window westfalia for sale. Keith the second. A one of a kind van with no expense spared. not your average rotted bus. She has had a lot of maintenance and parts to get her ready for the summer months as we had the intention of taking her on a European camping tour.  Firstly she is a Californian bus and has been in the uk for the past 5 years. She has been garaged ever since and it shows as underneath is immaculate ! she still has her factory coat of undercoat/stone chip (not that bloody awful wax oil that looks crap) you can see in some places where the undercoat has flaked away and the original metal is showing through like brand new in sierra yellow ! A very solid bus she has never been welded nor does she need to be she is very dry and straight under neath. Brand new polished porche fuch replicas and a 4 inch slamwerks narrowed beam fitted Body and paint (an orangy mustard colour) Very clean and straight. she has had a blow over a few years back and still looks very tidy. She is not caked in any filler. all her original body panel lines are there and clean. there are a few spots where some bubbling has started but nothing bad. Arches. steps. corners. guttering. lower valance. door bottoms are all clean metal. Window seals have all been replaced. the pop is unpainted and is her original gel coat white which has been removed. stripped and machine buffed then refit using a new canvass. new roof seal kit and hinge kit. so the pop top is nice and clean. looks new. Cab floor and cargo floor are original and unwelded and are very clean. some slight pitting on the drivers side however it is just slight pitting on the surface not rust. nbsp;doesn't need replacing and has been treated. Front and rear bumper recently stripped and repainted with brand new over rider kit with over rider rubbers fitted. The bus has recently had a full detail and paint sealant applied and she still looks amazing ! although she is not a show winner she is a very clean and rust free and original camper. She has a few accesories recently fitted such as the external sun visor. eye lids. new bumper step rubbers. beetle arial and a few other bitsThat gives you an idea about the exterior so i will move on to the interiorVery clean and original. steering wheel has been upgraded to a wooden 3 spoke one. she has light steer power steering fitted making her a treat to drive. mad matz full carpet kit in the front cab which is virtually brand new. gear stick extender. dash painted to match the van. gear stick extender. custom retrimmed porsche tombstones in brown leatherette. the back cushions have all been retrimmed to match in the same material as has the spare wheel cover. Full westfalia original interior consisting of side locker. rock and roll bed. cooler box unit and sink. buddy seat. overhead locker and matching westfalia stool (quite rare to find nowadays). Lino flooring fitted as its easier to clean after sandy trips to the beach ! Custom curtains made in a thick tartan orange cotton (elgin autumn. not cheap copy material). Cd player with aux and usb input. several speakers fitted around the van and the sound system is better than most modern cars ! Mechanical wise there is no expense spared and i have replaced quite a few parts recently.  She is fitted with a type 4 2000cc engine with genuine itallian twin dellorto 40 carbs mated to the larger 6 rib gear box (better gear rations and more bomb proof) making cruising at 90 mph an easy task ! no problems with hills or running hot.  She has disc brakes up front which are servo assisted which stop on the dime with very little effort. combined with the bigger engine and power steering shes pretty much like driving a modern car ! Things that have been replaced in the last few months (couple hundred miles) New starter motornew alternatornew starter motor wiringnew earth leadnew batterynew brake flexi pipesnew slam werks 4 inch narrowed adjustable beamnew track rod arms (both adjustable)full engine service (new coil. leads. oil. timing set. yada yada yada. )new rocker cover gaskets (also comes with spare ones for the tool bag)new fan belt (comes with an extra 2 spares for the tool bag)carbs stripped and rebuiltnew gear linkagenew struts4 brand new tyresnew polished porshe fuchs alloy wheels new heat exchangers fitted properly and in full working order (work off the switches) she has also had new heater ducting pipes and new heater motor which works. so the heaters work without the van having to be driven unlike earlier vans or later uk spec vans.  Brake fluid drained and refreshednew oem exhaustnew rear lens covers and a lot more. She is a 1 key does all locks van ! just 1 key ! majority of bays ive had in the past usually have about 40 different keys ! I have a lot of paper work with the van. 1000s in invoices. even have her original owners manual. Great amount of history. If your on the hunt for a really nice bay window it would be a very wise move to pick this van as there is a lot of over rated bodged crap on the market hiding all sorts of horrors and bad welding underneath layers of filler and a shiney paint job so why not just buy a factory original straight bus. And paying 10-12k for a westy may seem a good idea but the money you will spend in the long run on repairs will cost you.  To sum up. in my opinion one of the nicer vans available at the moment. in the best colour at a bargain price. A really tidy genuine van.
