1968 AMC AMX for sale
Current customer rating: (383 votes ) based onDue to some people thinking it was wise to bid my car up to make their own over priced junk seem more reasonable then creating an bogus account and using it at the last moment to get out from being the high bidder I am relisting this car.
Let me start by laying a couple of ground rules: 1) If you have less then 25 feed backs your bid will be canceled unless you contact me in advance. 2) If you have nothing better to do then bid on cars you can neither afford or are not serious about buying DO NOT BID.
You waste the time of real bidders as well as the seller.
Up for auction is a very original. early production 1968 AMC AMX. dash No. 000138
I purchased this car from the original owner in 1988. who bought it on November 26th 1968 at Metairie Rambler in Metairie Louisiana.
343 Automatic. Air Conditioning (compressor and bracket removed but included. lines not cut). tinted glass. 315 posi. disc brakes (front brakes have been converted to mid 70's AMC
single piston style but original rotors and calipers included). Brake system was rebuilt last year. new master cly. . R. wheel cyl. . pads and shoes. Car stops straight and strong.
Seats and carpets replaced with Legendary reproductions along with the headliner and sail panels 2 years ago. rest of the interior is all original.
Original owners card. vehicle invoice and glove box material included with the car.
Car has had one thin repaint up to the stripes in the 70's when the leading edge of the passengers door and fender were slightly damaged. door jams and trunk are factory paint.
Paint has lots of brush touch ups and minor bruises from almost 50 years of happy motoring but is very presentable as is or is a great basis for an all out restoration.
No rust repair has ever been done to the car so what you see is what you get. The quarter panel rust is the very worst of it but two replacement patch panels are included with the sale.
No rust in the rockers. troughs or trunk. very minor rust behind the seats.
Front bumper has been re chromed but has a small cut on the top edge at the center. the rear bumper is original straight with nice chrome. as well as the tail lights.
Car runs and drives well with older tires and correct original 6 inch chrome wheels but as with all old cars sometimes has a light flickers or has a drip of transmission fluid after sitting over the winter months.
Just a good old car that has not had the ravages of multiple owners and back yard engineers trying to improve upon how it came from the factory.
I have not enjoyed this car nearly enough in the past 28 years as I could have but want to focus on a couple other projects.
