AUSTIN 10/4 4 DOOR SALOON 1933 MAROON/BLACK WITH SLIDING ROOF for sale
Current customer rating:
1933 Austin 10/4 4 Door Saloon with Sliding Roof. an older restoration with wonderful patina.
I have owned this car for over 3 years and in that time used it at Austin Club and other events but other projects are taking over so it's time for this one to go.
This car was registered on 24/02/1933 and still has it's original number OJ **** (transferable if you must) and I have a buff log book from 1952 and the current V 5 and most old MOT's from 1986 on and two 1980's tax discs.
The Colour is Maroon Body. Black Wings. Red Seats/Door Skins and Black Carpets. It has a sliding roof. opening windscreen. wind-down windows on all doors. Also has child locks on the rear doors. Roof lining is showing it's age (a bit moth eaten and stained).
A later 12 volt dynamo and regulator have been fitted along with flashing indicators in front sidelights and additional flashing indicators clamped to the rear bumper to make the car a little safer on today's roads. Original Trafficators are still fitted and could be wired up to work if you wished. Petrol gauge fitted but does not work but a dipstick is supplied.
The Engine had a decoke last winter and new valve guides fitted. valve seats recut and ground in and repaint. (good compression now) Oil pressure 20 lbs hot and cold and the engine also benefits from being fitted with a new distributor from Austin repro.
The Brakes have benefitted from having new cables fitted 2 years ago and car stops quite well now.
The Rear Axle has had a new Crown Wheel and pinion fitted 3 years ago (slight noise on overrun)
Overall this car is pleasant to drive and quite capable for long journey's at 40 mph or a trip into the country with a picnic basket on the rear rack behind the spare wheel but it is not a motorway burner. it has plenty of charm with the usual engine noise. squeaks and rattles you would expect from an 83 year old car.
Spares to go with the car if required: Bare cylinder block. box of odds and a pair of fibreglass replacement running boards and rubbers.
The car is near Brands Hatch racing circuit in NW Kent about 15 minutes from Junction 3 of the M 25. I can deliver the car within a 100 mile radius for a fee. Please contact me to view.
