The Ford GT 40 was recently nominated as one of the top ten
British cars of all time by the Daily Telegraph and this year marks
the 60 th anniversary of Ford winning the famous '24 Hours du
Mans'.

This particular GT 40 by KVA took over four years to build from
an original chassis and body shell supplied by KVA. The
chassis was modified by welding on front and rear sub frames
supplied by GT Developments to make it more representative of
the original Ford suspension design and was supplied together with
wishbones. radius arms and hub carriers and carried out on an
engineering surface table to ensure absolute accuracy.

The engine is a 2700 cc. V 6 unit which was part of the
Renault/Volvo family of engines the reason for using this
arrangement was that the engine mates directly with a Renault
transaxle from an extensively overhauled unit without the need for
an adapter plate. Worth noting is that this arrangement can handle
the power of a V 8 engine if a new owner chose to modify the
vehicle in the future. The gearchange mechanism is routed from
the gear lever on the RHS sill as per the racing GT 40 and
drive from the transaxle to the wheels is via GTD driveshaft
adaptors and modified driveshafts by GTD. A facet electric
fuel pump and a pressure regulator feed the fuel from the
selected tank to the twin Weber three barrel carburettors which
were recently the subject of a £900 reconditioning by Weber
agent Northampton Motorsport.

The engine does not protrude into the cockpit thus allowing
a double wall bulkhead to be installed with sound proofing and
a double glazed rear window making a far more comfortable cockpit
area. Suspension is a fully adjustable type by GTD with Pro Tech
shock absorbers. Ford front and Cosworth rear vented disc brakes
are supplied and operated via twin brake servos and the black
carpeted interior contains the ventilated style bucket seats
(GTD supplied) whilst the dashboard layout is fitted with Lucas
switchgear.

Weighing just 1090 kg with an added spare wheel and luggage box
together with a huge amount of additional information and an
impressive history. this well constructed and very impressively
presented GT 40 by KVA is very keenly priced and has the provenance
to reassure any potential buyer.
