1947 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith WVA48 for sale
Current customer rating:
An early Silver Wraith. which started life in Lebanon. later going to Turkey. and later still to the USA (Texas). all of which have hot. dry climates. which have helped greatly with the structural preservation of this car. The body. chassis and underside are all very sound and impressive. Although the car has been out of use for some time. included in the large file of paperwork that is included. is evidence of various preparation work carried out in recent years. including the fitting of a new set of correct Dunlop Fort tyres. We have also recently carried out work to suspension. brakes. wheel bearings. etc. The car now needs re-wiring and some minor attention before being ready for the road. and this is reflected in the asking price.

Snippets: The Bardawil family of Beirut.
Ordered by Mr. Philip Fouad Bardawil & delivered to him in Beirut.
In 1945 the firm of Bardawil & Co was founded by Philip's father (Philip H) who specialised in construction machinery & equipment.
Sadly Philip H died in 1948 and the firm was taken over by his son. Philip Fouad Bardawil (he was born in Manchester in 1928).
Since then the firm has gone from strength to strength with the 3 rd generation of Bardawil's joining the firm.
Philip Fouad's mother - Zakieh Chaker Nassif was the daughter of Chaker Nassif an industrial merchant who at one stage owned the largest tannery in Mashghara and can be said that he started the leather industry in that region. Between WWI & WWII Chaker Nassif produced his own currency for his employees!
Philip Fouad Bardawil later wrote a short autobiography entitled “Reflections of a Lebanese Businessman Living in the Gulf”.
The name Bardawil is the Arabic form of Baldwin. named after Baldwin Ist. King of Jerusalem during the 11 th Century.
Philip Fouad Baradwil's brother-in-law was Zaki Nassif who is considered to be an important person within the music industry of Lebanon. during the 1950 s he was a member of “The League of Five” a quintet which was modelled after five Russian composers – Balakirev. Cui. Mussorgsky. Borodin & Rimsky-Korsakov.
During the early 1960 s WVA 48 travelled from Lebanon to USA via Turkey & Italy prior to being re-imported to the UK.
