History of this car

Our tipo 820. 230 is a rare car with only 2168 cars made. differing to the visually nearly identical preceeding Flavia model tipo 820. 030 under the skin with a slightly more powerful higher revving engine and importantly a 5 speed gearbox for much improved cruising. Superbly weighted power steering and nicer detail completes the package and today this model in our opinion is the ultimate Flavia generation car. without the maintenance headache of the run out HF injected model.

Our car has lived in Milan. northern Italy for its entire life until it was imported to the UK by us this year. This superb car has had just two owners from new. and reads a mere 34. 00 KM on the clock. which although cannot be warranted. is entirely believable in light of the superb original condition of the car.

Body

The car has clearly been subject to an expensive repaint in recent years. as the argento paint it wears today is wonderfully sharp. with a thin. glass like finish all round without a blemish in sight. We really think this colour perfectly suits this timelessly stylish and understated Pininfarina design.

Shut lines. particularly around the doors. are razor thin and even. The sides of the car are arrow straight. Chassis wise this Lancia is completely solid with zero rust.

Indeed. the body on this car would not be out of place at a concours d'elegance. it's that good.

All stainless trim and glass is very good and unmarked. bar some tiny parking dings to the front bumper.

The 2000 sits on genuine HF Cromodora alloy wheels which are in excellent condition and are shod with correct sized Michelin rubber with plenty of tread.

Mechanics

The 2 litre boxer engine barks into life immediately from cold. It really is a wonderfully smooth engine that is surprisingly punchy. holding excellent oil pressure and emitting zero smoke.

Ditto the gearbox is a delight to use and slides in and out of every gear with no problems. The brakes are excellent. which is hardly surprising as the car has had a new master cylinder and booster fitted very recently.

The front suspension is the Achilles heel of these cars. but ours has been rebuilt and as you can see it sits as it should – so many of this model appear nose heavy. which indicates wear.

The sophisticated power assisted steering is a delight. and this car really feels well planted on the road with an excellent ride. Quiet. too – the only thing you can hear is the hum of the engine.

New MoT.

Interior

The interior on this car is in absolutely fantastic condition with factory fresh detail in keeping with a car with such a low recorded mileage. This interior genuinely oozes period Italian GT style. with its tobacco vinyl streaked by black. polished stainless steel and wool carpets. a fantastic place to be. The headlining in Pininfarina trademark ribbed vinyl is unmarked. and our car is fitted from new with a Blaupunkt radio.

The dashboard is unmarked and the gauges and switches are very fresh which leads us to conclude the car has been cherished and carefully stored away from UV light.

Boot

Like the rest of the car – mint and exceptionally detailed. right down to the proper tool kit. Lancia branded emergency warning triangle. and Battiani jack which appears to have never been used!

Summary

This model rarely comes to market. and when they do they're not in the condition of this example. Exceptional value at the price suggested today. this much style and performance for so little money. so be quick!
