History of this car
1 of 1625 made. this fabulous Montecarlo was delivered new to Varese. northern Italy. on 9th June 1976. this early series 1 Montecarlo resided in the warm Lombardy region for some forty years until we purchased the car from its third owner.
We sourced this Montecarlo for it's atypical unmolested original condition and rust free body and imported in into the UK in December of 2015.
The odometer displays 84. 00 KM (52. 00 miles). which we believe to be absolutely genuine (although not warranted) due to the A1 condition of the car.
Body
The stylish Pininfarina body on this Montecarlo is in superb condition – entirely rust free with excellent panel fit all round. Clad in the rare. original colour of Blu Argento (473). we believe this car may well be wearing part original paint. which presents fantastically with a thin. orange-peel free finish without a blemish in sight.
It's the same story on the undercarriage – rust-free. straight. and no apparent evidence of accident damage: very. very rare to find one like this!
We have extensively rust proofed this Lancia using Dinitrol products to future proof the car.
All the glass. plastic trim. badging and lighting is in excellent condition in keeping with a 52. 00 mile cared-for car.
All four wheels have been fully refurbished by us.
Mechanics
This Montecarlo is super tight and delivers a rewarding. confidence-inspiring drive.
The engine is in excellent order. starting immediately from cold and holding factory oil pressure. No smoke. The car pulls strongly all the way up the rev range - this engine boasting both great low down torque and high end power – all the while producing an addictively gratifying twin cam soundtrack.
The side-opening bonnet lifts up to reveal an all-original and authentically detailed engine bay. with spare. tie down strap and jack in place.
The suspension and brakes are very good. our example does not knock or rattle. and the handling is light. direct. with a particularly flat and planted feel.
Oil/filter change service just performed.
New MoT with no advisories.
Interior
A real strong point of this car is the retina searing bright red Rosso interior. which presents now as it did back in 1976. Deep grain imitation leather vinyl is used throughout. this and matching Rosso carpets are in excellent preserved condition. The dashboard is equally good as are all plastic trims. A rare original optional Voxson 8 Track stereo is in place. All switch gear works as it should. All in all a very cool place to be!
Boot
Original and excellent. complete with the original tool kit.
Summary
It's incredibly hard to find a Montecarlo like this – unmolested. rust-free. low ownership. low mileage. and on the button. With heaps of 70's Pininfarina style and a thrilling driving experience. this car represents excellent value at the price suggested and we don't expect it to be here long. so please get in touch to arrange a viewing.
