1965 Triumph TR4

This New White TR4 has just been subject to the most comprehensive restoration imaginable. As such it is in concours condition throughout.

This two owner. original right-hand drive TR4. wearing its original registration number and in its original colour configuration. was discovered a couple of years ago before being subject to a ‘no expense spared' rebuild.

In essence. the car has been built as a ‘new TR4'. It has been built from scratch using refurbished or new components. The body wear new panels with perfect gaps and paint and sits atop a powder-coated chassis with professionally reconditioned gearbox. overdrive and axle. all new suspension. brakes and refurbished original steel wheels. All the chromework is new. the interior has been professionally retrimmed to its original specification with the exception of an attractive walnut dashboard and Moto Lita steering wheel. All weather gear is brand new.

Despite an entirely standard appearance. this TR4 packs a little more punch under the bonnet. The four cylinder has been taken out to maximum capacity 89mm pistons and liners (approximately 2. 3-litres). the bottom end has been balanced and fitted with a fast road camshaft. Above the cylinder head has been ported and fitted with unleaded seats. which breathes through twin Weber side-draught carburettors and a tubular exhaust manifold and stainless steel exhaust system. The engine was professionally built between TR Improvements and Carlow Engineering. and it gives this TR very spritely performance indeed.

With the car comes a set of photographs detailing its rebuild and every parts bill. which add up to north of £20k. excluding the cost of labour. There is also the original green logbook and a heritage certificate confirming its provenance.

The cost of restoring this was well in excess of its asking price. and the result is one of the best TR4s available anywhere. Definitely one for the discerning collector.
