The Series 3 XJ 6 arrived in 1979 with Pininfarina styled body and fuel injection for the 4. 2 engine. which increased power. torque and economy. Although the car looked more modern than the S 2. the styling was unmistakably Jaguar and these cars sold remarkably well for a 20 year old design. Even when the XJ 40 arrived there was still strong demand for the older car and it would only be a few years before Jaguar designers reverted to the “retro-curvaceous” looks of the S 3 for the X 300 models. The Daimler Vanden Plas version sold in very small numbers and just 1900 were built with the 4. 2 engine.

This car is a 1981 Series 3 Daimler Vanden Plas 4. 2. The mileage is correct at just 49. 00 from new. The history file contains an original service book with 12 stamps. various bills and 20 old MOT certificates. The body. paint finish and underside are all in excellent condition and the interior. which is all original. is in fine order. As you would expect at this mileage. this Daimler runs and drives perfectly with strong oil pressure.

There are just a handful of 4. 2 Daimler Vanden Plas versions of the Series 3 left on the road and according to “how many left” just one 1981 registered car. so this low mileage example offers great value.
