You may never see another one of these!

This Mercedes Gullwing replica originally came from the US and was made in the late 1970s. I believe it was made by a man name Alex Walk. who ultimately sold his business to Tony Ostermeier. Their finished product is well known throughout the world for its accuracy and quality. Their complete vehicles still sell for about the $150. 00 mark in the US.

This one obviously needs a lot of work and though I wish I could finish it myself I know for sure I will have no where to store it once I move. And will never get around to it in those circumstances.

The whole body including doors. hood. boot. and inner pan are there on a rectangular steel chassis. I think the fibreglass body needs work but it's all there.

Chassis has the shocks in place and the rear diferential as well as steering.

I should note that I am not a mechanic or car expert but I know these are rare. Rarer even than the originals. which are pushing a million dollars these days.

The car rolls and steers but the body is not on the chassis. It is sitting on it but not attached.

This is such a beautiful car that it would even make a great sculpture even if one didn't want to make it into the amazing car that it is.

I highly recommend inspection of the vehicle in person. nothing beats seeing it in person.

These are incredibly rare and you are unlikely to ever see another one.

I have many parts for it that I have individually assembled from here in Australia - I have purchased some from the US but in one case the parts did not arrive from the US so I have been sourcing things locally. which saves on shipping in any case.

Happy to answer any questions.

And I do intend to sell asap so no reasonable offer refused.

Also. this is my first go at selling on ebay. though I have been a long time buyer (about 12 years buying with ebay).

The car is located in Canberra but I will do everything I can to assit interstate buyers (I dont want to put it back into storage - especially since the storage would have to be a long ways from where I am moving to).

Thanks

Piet, there is nearly nothing left. I would have to check but definitely don't have a grill. I believe I have a set of taillights and the "300SL" and "MERCEDES BENZ" emblems. it is in storage so I would need to double check.

Serge, what sort of info were you looking for?

Hi there, on a different subject, do you have any contact details for a Willie Newman who I understand it was your 300SL production operation he was involved with, I am from NZ and trying to contact him from in the UK, if you could help, that would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi Heike,
i bougth an 300SL clone from your father recently and i am looking for some infos about the car

from Heike Ostermeier, dated 14 january 2015
My father (Tony Ostermeier) started Gullwing Cars from scratch. I worked for him for many years and have never heard of Alex Walk. Not sure where you got that information. However, I cannot tell if this was one of Tony's bodies and/or chassis. He was definitely known for his precision.
