SIX INCHES WIDER THAN A STOCK BJ 40/FJ 40
With over 1240 hours of work invested. this BJ 40 was hand built by Pilgrim's Restorations San Jose Costa Rica and completed in February of 2011. Their primary business was manufacturing reproduction sheet metal for the vintage Land Cruiser market.
Every panel used on this truck either original OEM or was manufactured new and stamped out of 18 gauge steel. There was no cutting and welding to achieve the end result.
The truck was built up from a 1978 BJ 40 and
features elements of
earlier
Land Cruiser styling like the FJ 25 style grill and "extra wide" chrome hood ornament. The frame is solid and the hand crafted body is rust free and exceptional. Every spot welds is visible from front to back. The paint is excellent and the truck features the earlier lift gate with one lower custom swing out door in the rear.
The truck has a brand new clutch. new starter and a new battery. The wheels are gray steel OEM split rims with 31 x 10. 50 tires. The nearly indestructible Toyota B engine has just been tuned and the power steering was serviced. She runs and drives good and will do 60 MPH but she's no speedster.
Inside you will find the split bench front seat covered and two early style longer jump seats in back covered in a sturdy black fabric . The headliner has been replaced with new.
The truck has the OEM stock roll bar. a brand new Kenwood AM/FM/CD with free standing JL Audio 6 x 9 speakers in the rear. As with nearly all South American Land Cruisers. there is no heater however you can ad one without too much trouble.
The photo site includes pictures of the truck during fabrication in Costa Rica and other photos over the past 3 years. She had a winch at one time but that is not on the truck today. There are several recent photos of the truck as she is today.
