The late 1940's and early 1950's brought about the rebirth and
rapid growth of sports car racing. in those early years. MG was the
dominant marque. Initially many MG owners formed clubs and enjoyed
low key activities such as rallies. gymkhanas. poker runs and hill
climbs. When the desire for more competition spurred interest in
road racing. MG's began to appear in droves on starting grids at
road racing events around the country; in fact. they usually made
up the majority of entrants. The NB was the final derivation of the
famous pre-war racing 'K' Series MGs to compete and in many cases
record class victories. at Brooklands. the Mille Miglia and at Le
Mans. It was also the last MG model built with an overhead cam
engine before push-rod engines were adopted across the model range.
Manufactured in 1935-36. a mere 98 NB two-seater models were built
making this a very rare car indeed.

Originally registered on 30th June 1936 in Kent. 'CYK 91' has
resided in the south-east of England for its entire life. The
current vendor. who is a very knowledgeable MG enthusiast. has
owned the car for the last couple of years. Prior to this. the
custodian owned the car for some 45 years and oversaw a total
restoration in the 1980's. The ash frame was restored as was the
chassis and bodywork. The engine was also rebuilt and exclusively
original components sourced. The entire process is documented in a
photographic album. Returning to the road in 1991. this MG is still
in first class order. a testament to the quality of the work and
also how she has been lovingly looked after since. The current
vendor has just had some electrical work carried out on her and
describes the car as having no known faults. Finished in stunning
two-tone claret over red with deep red leather interior. this
highly desirable six-cylinder. two-seater. pre-war MG comes with a
V5 registration document and a great history file. It is an
opportunity to purchase a rare piece of British motoring history
combined with great provenance.
