THE ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 1. 00 MILES AGO.

THEREFORE. TRUE MILES ARE UNKNOWN.

THIS 280 SL HAS A NICE STRAIGHT AND SOLID EXTERIOR BODY.

THE PAINT IS GLOSSY AND LOOKS GOOD (REPAINTED 8 YEARS AGO IN ORIGINAL SILVER COLOR) WITH ONLY MINOR CHIPS AND/OR SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE.

THE NEW SOFT TOP IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH NICE FABRIC AND A CLEAR PLASTIC REAR WINDOW.

THE TOP'S SEALS ARE DRY AND HARD AND DO NOT SEAL OUT WIND NOISE.

THE ALLOY WHEELS HAVE BEEN REPAINTED AND LOOK GOOD.

THERE IS SOME MINOR TO MODERATE RUST ON THIS CAR IN A COUPLE SPOTS ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND THE INTERIOR BODY PANELS. WHICH WILL BE DESCRIBED NOW: THERE IS SOME RUST REPAIR IN THE CORNERS OF THE ENGINE BAY WHERE THE FENDERS MEET THE FIREWALL.

SOMEONE USED EXPANDING FOAM TO FILL THE HOLES AND THEN PAINTED EVERYTHING WITH RUST INHIBITING BLACK PAINT (SEE PICS BELOW).

ALSO. THERE ARE A COUPLE RUST HOLES (ONE IS ABOUT AN INCH DIAMETER. THE OTHER IS DIME-SIZED) ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT FLOORPAN (SEE PICS BELOW) AND SOME MINOR RUST ON THE FRAME RAIL IN THAT SAME AREA.

OTHER THAN THOSE AREAS. THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND BODY ARE SOLID.

ELECTRONICALLY. EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT FOR THE WIPERS (FUSE IS PULLED BECAUSE THEY WON'T SHUT OFF) THE CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND SOME EXTERIOR LIGHT BULBS.

THE BUTTONS ON THE CLIMATE CONTROL DO NOT OPERATE ANYTHING (NO BLOWER. NO VENT DOOR MOVEMENT. NOTHING).

WE HAVE NOT DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OR CURE FOR ANY ELECTRONIC ISSUES.

THE TIRES ARE FAIRLY NEW AND HAVE ABOUT 60% OF THEIR TREAD REMAINING.

THE 2. 8 L-V 6 M 110 ENGINE FIRES RIGHT UP AND RUNS GOOD! THE ACCELERATION IS A LITTLE SLUGGISH. BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE OR RUN POORLY.

THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FINE. BUT ENGAGES KIND OF HARD WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE.

THIS MERCEDES HAS NO STATE INSPECTION STICKER ON IT CURRENTLY AND IT WILL NOT PASS A NEW INSPECTION IN VA.

THE RUST HOLE IN THE FLOORPAN IS AN AUTOMATIC FAILURE FOR INSPECTION IN VIRGINIA.

THE CAR MAY POSSIBLY PASS INSPECTION IN ANOTHER STATE. BUT WE DON'T KNOW THEIR REQUIREMENTS.

VIRGINIA RESIDENT WINNING BIDDERS WILL RECEIVE THE CAR WITH A "REJECTION" STICKER ON IT.
