Current customer rating: current rating for this car(4.1) based on 383 votes
A late Phantom I which was originally a Hooper Sedanca de Ville. but re-bodied later with the current. spacious four door open tourer. probably in the 1960 s or 1970 s. The car has been with one owner for 23 years. having been bought from us by him in 1991. In good order. driving really nicely. with bags of performance. lovely. light steering. excellent gearbox and riding very nicely in terms of suspension. In recent times. the car has been re-upholstered in black leather. fitted with a new hood. new tyres. etc. and had attention to the engine. Very good value for money.

Chassis No. 47 OR.

Reg No. BF 7082.

£57. 00.

Snippets: The 3 rd Lady & her interesting in-laws

Although there are 3 ladies named on the chassis cards 47 OR was actually delivered to the 3 rd lady.

The 1 st name is that of the elusive Miss M. E. Lamb (see GVO 60) & the 2 nd name is Mrs Bennett of Queen Anne's Mansions. Herbert Bennett was a director of Harrod's Store Ltd the owner of Queen Anne's Mansions & also of Hyde Park Court. Involved in the Hyde Park venture were Edward Rawlings. William Harris (Ritz & Carlton). Lord Waring (Waring & Gillows Furniture). Cesar Ritz & the chef Auguste Escoffier. The 3 rd lady who by Miss Lamb & Mrs Bennett's cancelling their order. became the 1 st owner of 47 OR was Mrs Theodora Fisher (nee Theodora Cecilia Hess).

Her husband - Edwin Fisher - was the youngest of 11 children & the family connections include: Francis Darwin (son of Charles Darwin). F. W. Maitland (Historian/Jurist). Lettice Ilbert (social worker & daughter of Sir C. Ilbert). R. O Morris (composer). R. V. Williams (composer & a scion of both the Darwin & Wedgwood line). Cecilia Warre-Cornish (daughter of noted author Francis Warre-Cornish) & Richard Curle (author. journalist & traveller).

Edwin Fisher himself served with the King's Own Hussars & the Life Guards during WWI.

After the war he resumed his career in finance within Barclays Bank becoming Chairman in 1936. In 1935 47 OR was acquired by Lord Edward Theodore Salvesen (1857/1942) a member of the Salvesen Whaling. Shipping & Logistics firm.

In 1913 as the 1 st President of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland Lord Salvesen organised the shipping of 800 penguins from the South Atlantic to Edinburgh Zoo!
