Mercedes-Benz : 200-Series 200TD

Up for sale is my 1986 Mercedes Benz 200TD Station Wagon. This is the W124 body style. This vehicle was not offered for sale in the United States. it was imported privately from Germany by the previous owner. He realized how economical and comfortable to drive this car was. and went through the effort and expense of having it shipped here. There were only a handful of 200TD's ever made and there are only a few left in existence. This is one of maybe 2 in the U. S. The good news is. all parts are interchangeable with other Mercedes models. This particular car is equipped with a 4 cylinder 2. 0 Diesel Engine. coupled to a 5 Speed manual transmission. The car runs and drives very strong. It is not by any means a speed demon off the line. but runs 90 MPH on the highway without a problem. This car is all original and unmolested. It still has the factory Becker Cassette deck. At 140. 00 Miles the engine is barely broken in. The transmission shifts perfectly and the clutch is strong. I just installed 2 brand new factory rear shock absorbers. This car has the hydra leveling system and I wanted to install the correct shocks to keep this system functioning as it should and also to keep the car stock. The 2 shocks cost me $800 for the parts. This is a common problem on these cars that has been addressed so you will never have to worry about that again. Most people replace them with a different cheap shock but like I said. I wanted it to be right. The windshield was also just replaced due to a rock hitting it. The brakes pads all have been replaced within the past year. as have the tires. It has studded snows on the rear and un-studded snows on the front. The interior is very clean for its age with no rips in the seats. The seats adjust manually and work flawlessly. The rear seats fold flat to provide a large storage/ transport area. I brought home a full size refrigerator in the box last year without a problem. I also camped out in it in sleeping bags with my wife a couple of times. just to give you an idea of the roominess.  It has a working power moonroof. manual roll up windows and door locks. This car gets approximately 40 MPG. It would be an ideal candidate for a biodiesel conversion. but with the fuel mileage I was getting I never bothered. You fill up the tank and it goes forever. The one bad thing is that it has some rust. mostly around the jack points and on the rocker panels. The pictures show the rusty areas. However. the floorboards and the rest of the vehicle are very solid. This car has been my daily driver for the past few years. but due to buying a new vehicle and being in the process of building a home. I unfortunately have to let her go. I would NOT hesitate to drive this car cross country today. The oil has been changed every 3. 00 miles and it just past inspection. Due to the age of the vehicle. it is sold as is without any warranties. You would be hard pressed to find another Mercedes with this engine and transmission combination anywhere. with this low original miles (140. 00 and rising a little every day).
