This is a really beautiful example of Mercedes' iconic and stylish two-seater convertible in almost perfect condition. with no rust or corrosion visible even in problem areas such as wheel arches. front wings or the vents at the base of the windscreen. The soft top is free from damage. while a colour-coded hard top. again in excellent condition. allows enjoyable all-year driving. Overall. the impression given is of a timeless classic that will only keep appreciating in value as the years pass.

INTERIOR
Given the tidiness of the interior. it may be difficult to believe that this car is over two decades old – it is immediately obvious that it has been extremely well-cared for. Many of the original features. such as the Blaupunkt radio cassette. are still present and correct. while the burl wood inserts in the dash. carpets and the beige fabric-covered seats with plastic trim are all immaculate. The rear bench and boot. lined in beige carpet. look like they have barely been used.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Under the bonnet. the 300 SL's 188 bhp straight six motor was incredibly strong and reliable. and the engine in this example is no different. being in superb working order – with regular servicing (Last serviced at 71. 64) it will no doubt provide many miles of problem-free motoring. The optional four-speed 4G-Tronic automatic transmission is fitted. and is considered by many Mercedes fans to be one of the most reliable transmission systems ever built by the company.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
Alloy wheels are unmarked. and come fitted with matching Avon ZV5 tyres. providing outstanding grip in both wet and dry conditions. progressive and predictable handling and excellent braking performance. As for the brakes themselves. discs and pads show little sign of wear. and the system still provides efficient. quiet and smooth stopping power. just like the day it rolled off the production line.

HISTORY FILE
First registered n 1986 this 300SL has had just 2 previous owner. The history file is brimming with paperwork with a huge host of main dealer invoices. specialist invoices and a mass of MOT certificates. The spare key is present along with the service key tucked in its packaging from new and located in the original owners pack which includes the service history book. old tax discs and the hood handle.
