For sale is my 914/6 GT conversion with the original 1. 8 ltr 4cyl engine with L Jetronic FI.
having sold my other 914/6 GT 3. 0 conversion last winter. Although this will never win the
"Stoplight Grand Prix" it is FUN TO DRIVE WITHIN THE SPEEDLIMIT! The 3. 0 was a real fire breather. and because it was like "being shot out of a cannon". stressful to drive. It wanted to go 100mph everywhere and begging to get pulled over. That said this is a perfect candidate for putting a hot rod 4 or 6 engine in as all the body/paint/suspension/brake/and interior work is done. The engine starts on the first turn of the key [with no gasoline smell] and so can be left in and enjoyed while a "frankenmotor" is prepared. The engine on start up does have a exhaust leak/noise where the exchangers bolt to the head that goes away after the engine heats up. [someone interested asked if this car could be driven home and to that I answered I wouldn't do it. not because of any know problem with the car but I would hate someone to get stranded by some unforeseen problem.
The paint and bodywork was done by a 914 specialist and the little rust it had was dealt with at that time. as in new battery tray and reinforced inner rockers installed. The car is solid with no structural problems. as been garaged for life and has had very few miles logged since it's makeover.
The car comes with two tops[I have 3 more I'll include at NEC if the buyer takes responsibility for safely packing] both in good shape but with some rub marks and light
scratches on both. ne better than the other. A possible candidate for painting white to match the car or I always thought a "sim con" top of German convertible top fabric would
look like it was a real rag top. [I'll include fabric for "sim con" on request]

The interior was stripped down to bare metal. painted with Por 15 then re insulated with
Dynamat insulation. Heavy wool carpet padding covered with new carpeting and removable custom mats installed. The interior is ALL LEATHER with the exception of blk/wht cowhide looking seat squabs[the original hair on calfskin did not wear well] easily changed
if another look is desired. These squabs are a heavy upholstery fabric and are all season comfortable.

The rest of the interior. ash. oll bar trim. ack pad and door panels are black cowhide. ith the door panels and dash face covered in a textured leather reminiscent of  the original vinyl. A second map pocket/arm rest installed on passenger door.

Flares. ockers. ront valance/bumper. 16 style rear bumper and wing are all fiberglass. All were carefully installed and fitted. flares are mat glassed on both sides and packed with seam seal and heavily undercoated. The only flaws in the glass fenders are two hairline
cracks[since touched up] about 1" long that both appeared right after the car was finished. Years later they have not grown and are barely noticeable. I mention them because otherwise the fiberglass fenders are flawless. There is a paint bubble about 2 " long at the bottom drivers side at the edge of the steel part of the fender. ight where it meets the bumper. Sheetmetal behind is solid. robably the worst flaw on the car.

I will be adding more photos and info in the coming week. please email with any questions.

I have used up my picture total but will send additional pix on request. Anyone ready to bid. please ask any and all question and I'll send close up pix of mentioned flaws so no surprises.
