1982 Jeep CJ5. Clean and Clear Tittle

This is a great old school jeep. with Electric Fuel Injection (EFI).  I got rid of carburetor and its the best thing I ever did for this Jeep. nbsp;it starts like a new car.  It runs great and looks very cool.  Everything works and there is no leaks.

History:

I have completed lots of work on it. to get it where it's at today.  Prior to us owning it; it was owned by a family friend for a very long time.  As far as I know it has never been in any accidents. nor does it have evidence of.  No accidents or crashes known.

 SMOG:

This Jeep passed California SMOG.

 Engine:

The engine is a 4. 2L. straight 6 cylinder and very strong.  I recently installed an Electric Fuel Injection System (EFI) kit from Howell.  This kit makes the Jeep start like a new car and it runs great.  It helps with the MPG. very noticeable from the old carburetor.  The engine was rebuilt prior to me owning it. I don't know when or how many miles ago but the engine is very strong and has no noises or any indications that there are any problems.  

 Transmission:

4 Speed manual with a newer clutch (about 400 miles on the new clutch).  The 4X4 works and the light. lights up on the dash.

Sheet metal:

All the sheet metal and frame are very nice. no rust! I did cut a 6 inch x 6 inch access under the rear seat to get to the gas sending unit.  The was easier than dropping the rear axel. tank cage and tank.  I put some flaps on it and sealed it back (See the photo).  

Paint:

I painted the Jeep a unique Green about a year ago.  The paint is not shinny. I purposely over sprayed it to give is a sheen. and was going to knock the paint down to give it the final satin look.  I just have not gotten around to it. But I get thumbs up all the time.  

Prior to painting it I pulled out the carpet.  The floor pan (INSIDE) had some surface rust due to the carpet moisture. but it was sanded and treated.  Never had cancer or thru rust. never had panels replaced! I did some minor body work in a couple spots due to dings.     

 Suspension:

The suspension is all stock as far as I know.

 Glass:

The windshield has no cracks.

 Top:

This jeep only comes with a bikini top.

Dash:

Everything on the dash works and I installed new gas and temperature gage as well as a new gas-sending unit. All the little dash knobs and light have been replaced.  The dash pad is in great condition no cracks or tears.

 Horn:

Horn button is on the dash not on the steering wheel.

Tires:

The tires are All-Terrain T/A- BF Goodrich with thick tread. they are over 80% left. I measured 11/32 inch left on the tread on 15 inch wheels.

Do do (Eventually):

The only think I would do to this Jeep in the future but not necessary is new headlight buckets and a better radio.  The hood has a crack on it but. its hard to tell.  Finish the 1500-grit wet sand to give it that satin look. One of the rear seat bolts is broken off in the nut.  

New work:

I just installed a new exhaust system including a new catalytic converter.  Complete tune-up including distributer. plugs. wires. coil. oil. oil filter ect. New EGR valve. new Howell EFI kit ($1800). with computer hook up for diagnostic.  new vacuum hoses. newer battery (about one year old). new rear right bearings and seals inner and out. New back light buckets. lenses and bulbs.  New fuel sending unit and fuel and temp gage.  New rear right bearings. seals and gear oil.  The upholstery is about one year old. and also new front seat belts.
