Up for auction is my 1986 Toyota Turbo Pickup Truck in absolutely fantastic condition.

Please read carefully before bidding. I believe in transparency on Ebay. so here is the long version:

Non-Technical History/ Reason for Selling:

I am the third owner of this fine truck. The original owner who bought the truck new (from Salinas. Ca. ) sold it to "the guy" (the second owner) who is the one who deserves most of the credit for adoring and preserving this truck. Unfortunately. he died. and so his wife let go of both his trucks. Since I bought this truck in the Summer of 2013. I have probably driven it between 300 and 400 miles (it pretty much just sits in my garage). It has never seen mud or off-road or even rain since I have owned it. I don't even let it sit in the sun. It has basically sat in my garage for 14 months. I only fire it up every couple of weeks and give it a good spin to keep it in good running shape. This has always been a California truck. I am a complete 1980's Toyota Truck fanatic- totally obsessed with these trucks. But I am recently married with some financial hurdles right in front of me which I must face pragmatically. or else I will have a sweet truck and no house to live in! This extremely rare. original Toyota Turbo Truck has clearly been adored it's entire life. I hate to let her go and I hope it goes to someone who will treat it right.

At a Glance:

Less than 74K Original Miles. Everything functions as it should. I do not know of anything on this truck that "sorta" works or works poorly. All handles. gauges. etc. work properly and have no significant cosmetic damage or even significant wear and tear.  Unusually light wear for the age. This truck seems stock right down to the original cassette deck! The only non- stock parts that I can positively identify are the speakers in the doors (which don't sound great by todays standards. but they do work) and the shocks. tires and rims (clearly the truck was raised and so these upgrades are not original). The rims are really cool Enkei silver and gold. beautiful! Tires are 30". Front tires have lots of life left- way more than 50%. rear tires probably 50%. New master and slave clutch cylinder (OEM parts) installed 6 months ago (less than 75 miles on them). Radiator and catalytic converter / tailpipe appear to be new. To the best of my knowledge. everything else is original. The 4X4 functions properly (I flip the hubs and run through the individual gears for a mile once every month or so since I've owned it). All lights. blinkers. horn. etc. work properly. Brakes seem to function very well and the e-brake works great. Classic 80's California plates. I have the clean California Title in hand.

Exterior:

The original paint looks great! really shines! Classic off white/cream color. The body is 99% straight and rust free. but it is not "perfect". There are a few very minor dings here or there (see pics). and there is some slight "surface" rust in a few very few small spots- pretty much just inside the bed. You could throw a bed liner on if you want. The front bumper appears to have been touched up with black paint. I don't know anything about auto body. but I imagine if you brought this truck into a body/ touch-up shop. you could get all of this fixed and have a brand new looking truck for not that much $. You could also get some new "TOYOTA" stickers and redo the tailgate decal to make it really pop! But don't touch the original "turbo" decal as it is in "as new" condition! I thought about doing these cosmetic restorations. but the purist inside of me rejected that. I prefer the historical "character" to the rhino-liners. new paint. etc.

You gotta see the hood in person. It is 99. 9% perfect and the glory is simply not well represented in the pics! Whenever I take the truck somewhere. some guy always starts a conversation about it. When you drive it down the road. people look. and it's not because you have hot red paint or KC lights or 33" tires- it's because you are driving a classic truck with way more original style than anything they are making these days! The mid-eighties Toyotas are the best. and this truck is an excellent example of this triumphant era when Toyota trucks were ubiquitous. I still see trucks from this era on the freeway here every day- just not this nice.

Engine:

Mechanically speaking. I would say this truck is excellent. I took it for a spin yesterday and it ran like a champ- exactly the way it should. It idles great (it's important to let the 22-RTE warm up for a couple minutes before you roll- this is a widely known fact- it's indicated in the manual and also on a sticker inside the cab- the purpose is to allow the turbo sufficient time to warm up). The truck just wants to go! There are no funky sounds or quirks that I am aware of. Just like any 1980's Toyota truck- put the gas pedal down for a second or two. pump it a couple times and it fires right up. The engine seems strong at all speeds. Clutch shifts real nice and gears shift easily and smoothly. Like I said- brakes seem to work just fine. There are absolutely no leaks of any kind inside the engine compartment or underneath on the concrete where the truck has been sitting inside the garage for the last 14 months. It's super clean! I just changed the oil and had the joints lubed. I had a guy at the shop down the street do it since they were offering a great deal. I asked him. "What kind of oil did you use and how does the truck look?" He replied simply. "Castrol. Clean".

If I knew more about engines and mechanical topics I would ramble more. but I don't think there is more to say?? At less than 74K miles. this truck engine is not even broken in yet. These engines go forever if they are well maintained.

Interior:

Just look at the pictures and you have your answer.  Very. very clean. There are really just a few issues which make this not a perfect 10. nbsp;and they are both on the seat. Please see pics. The entire dash assembly looks almost new. No cracks whatsoever. no scratches. By the way. this "bench" is actually two adjustable backrests with the arm rest in the middle. Much cooler and more comfortable than the base bench with one back rest. The inside even smells like a genuine 1986 Toyota pickup Truck. If you're reading this. I think you know what I mean! It's a welcoming. genuine authentic Toyota experience.

**:

So. "the guy" was clearly a fanatic too. except he actually knew a lot more about vehicles than I do (I can pretty much change oil. tires. and do some really basic repairs). He obviously had big plans for this truck. and spent around 3K on upgrades that he never got around to installing. The extra parts are all brand new in boxes (or new old stock) and included in this auction.

Probably the most exciting part is a brand new TB-20 TURBO Kit from Turbo Engineering Corp. If you know these trucks. you know that the 22-RTE is a powerful beast. But apparently the factory CT-20 turbo was destined to fail at some point. depending on how hard the truck was driven and for how many miles. Moreover. apparently Toyota doesn't really offer service or repairs on the factory turbo. Well. nbsp;TEC crafts a bigger. /strong> better turbo specifically designed for the 22-RTE (and- if they have any left. they might sell it to you new for $1450. 00. but good luck getting them to pick up the phone! I think they are busier building superconductors or something).

This replacement turbo brings more power and better acceleration to the 22-RTE. You will see from the pictures that this is a brand new TB-20 TURBO KIT in the original box. It appears to be the complete install kit with all hoses. clamps. adapter plate. etc. (although as my knowledge is really zilch on turbos and machines in general. so I cannot guarantee it with 100% certainty). If you plan to install this on your own. there is a right and a wrong way to do it and if you have equal to or less knowledge than I do. you should definitely NOT try to do it on your own! Find another way to be a hero! Again- please see the pics for inventory. I'm 99% sure the whole kit is there.

Fortunately. installing the turbo shouldn't be necessary anytime soon as the original factory CT-20 turbo is intact and functions perfectly!! How do I know? Well. when I enter an onramp to hop on the freeway. the green turbo light comes on if you put the accelerator pedal down even a little bit hard (maybe 1/3 throttle). And the truck just perks right up and easily. joyfully accelerates. It has no problem whatsoever with todays freeway speeds or rates of acceleration. There is no reason to believe the stock turbo has any problems or is going to fail anytime soon. I had a 1985 Toyota pickup back in the 90s (not the turbo) and this one is definitely faster. So. that's how I know. You could choose to do the upgrade if you wish (keep the original CT-20 as a backup) or wait until the CT-20 fails. But again. judging from the condition of the truck. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the stock CT-20 turbo lasts you a very long time- years.

Also included is what appears to be an OEM cast exhaust manifold! (a good thing to have. right?) I need to take this opportunity to thank Jeff Moskovitz from the online 22RTE website / forum for taking the time to explain to me what I have here as I did not know- Thanks Jeff!

Also included is a 4WD body mount kit. piston kit. Toyota Truck Total Kit (suspension / sway bar bushings & upgrades). water pump. lots of chassis parts. etc. etc. I don't really know what some of this stuff is. so please look closely at the pictures to identify exactly what you will get. What you see in the photos is what is included. All of the parts are definitely NOS/ unused parts.

You can make your choice. Drive this truck proudly as is. covet it. barely ever drive it (and don't let anyone ever drive it either! hahaa). or put a little time and resources into it if you have the knowledge. skills and abilities. If you choose the latter. you just might have yourself one of those $12-13K trucks that pop up here every once in a while. Believe me- this one really is worth it- Don't miss out! There are probably just a few of these left in the United States in this condition.
