This was not a surplus war Jeep and was formally owned by the Iowa DNR.   The Jeep has about 39. 00 believed to be original miles and is in good running order. I am the third owner from new.

I purchased the Jeep and it had a recent frame of documented restoration. since the restoration we have used it for about 2 years so there is minor wear and tear but overall it is a very nice Jeep that is sorted out mechanically. four wheel drive works. newer tires and almost everyone that sees it salutes you or gives you a thumbs up.

The Jeep is like a cool golf cart with license plates!

I also have the build books for the restoration. they are very documented along with a clear Iowa title.   Unfortunately due to health and business I must sell.   I have a matching Harley WLA listed too.

This Jeep has been converted to 12VDC and is very functional. it is a great parade or car show jeep. very solid the windshield frame has shown some rust repair. the body. frame and driveline is very solid.

1950-1952 M-38

Years Produced: 1950-1952 domestic use
No of Units: 45. 73

While the WWII-era jeep may be the quintessential flattie in the minds of many collectors. the M-38s are held in high regard by Jeep aficionados everywhere. Built from the CJ-3A civilian Jeep. the militarized M-38 featured upgraded drivetrain components compared with the earlier WWII flatties. There were lots of niceties not found on the CJ-2A and CJ-3A civvy models. like a closed. pressurized vent setup that prevented water intrusion to the diffs. drivetrain. and electrical system. a glove box in the dash. protective headlight guards. and in what would become the standard for the military. a 24v electrical system. Unlike the WWII flatties. the military M-38s had the pioneering tool indents on the passenger-side.
