Options include 4-speed manual transmission. bucket seats with chrome console fitted with optional tachometer (currently in-operable) & locking storage compartment. power steering. added electronic hide-away headlamps (1966 Charger). power brakes. heater/defrost. padded dash. Our example spent the better part of its life in sunny California. Registration records indicate the car made its way to the second Pennsylvania owner in approximately 1999. As an avid MOPAR collector. it was later traded for a Charger in 2003 to the third Missouri owner. and then back to a New Jersey collection in 2013. It remained largely original showing just 79. 39 miles on the odometer and survived with an all original drivetrain (engine code A426)! In early August of 2013. the gas tank was replaced for a new correctly stamped original. all new true dual exhaust fitted with Cherry Bomb Vortex mufflers. and rear air shocks installed. In March 2014. it received a complete tune up by Phil's Auto in Little Ferry. NJ that included a rebuild of the original Carter AFB carb. upgraded Mallory E-Spark electronic ignition system. all fresh fluids. new valve cover gaskets. new rear end gear oil. new fuel & air filter. and even fresh wiper blades.
It has definitely been repainted sometime in the distant past but continues to remain very presentable today. All of the original Chrysler tinted window glass remains. as well as all the exterior trim and chrome appointments. chassis undercoating. and more! Most recently. the entire interior was replaced for brand new. This included everything from the headliner to the padded floor carpeting. With compliments to E. W. E. Auto Seat Cover Co. based in North Bergen. NJ. the results are excellent! New sun visors. seat cushions & padding. all seating upholstery. recovered console cover. door panels. sail panels. and package tray were all refinished to new condition!
He remains a splendid street performer with a perfect exhaust note. and sinister overall appearance! With a four owner history. unaltered drivetrain. and loaded with desirable features. we do not expect this Coronet 500 to last very long! It represents 1 of only 729 produced equipped with a Street Wedge 426 and 4-speed combination! Hard to ever know how many survived. let alone original like this one! Please feel free to call with additional questions or to schedule a chance to review it in person! Thanks for looking!
