1967 Volkswagen Bus Micro Bus EZ Camper of America split window

1967 VOLKSWAGEN MICRO BUS “CALIFORNIA CAMPER”

This is a 1967 VW split window bus for your consideration.   

This bus is a factory authorized camper conversion by EZ CAMPER OF AMERICA. LITTLE ROCK CALIFORNIA.

The vehicle was recently restored and has been driven 300 miles since completion.

Runs and drives like new.  Starts immediately hot or cold. The idle is perfect.  No hesitation.  The transmission is smooth and tight.

BODY:

There was very little rust or damage on this bus.   The battery tray was replaced and there was minor rust around the windshield area.   There were several pin holes on the driver side floor board.  The vehicle was stripped. prepped and sanded for paint. Numerous coats of epoxy primer were applied.     The vehicle was originally solid pearl white in color.   The bus was professionally painted two-tone sealing wax red and pearl white.   The paint is of exceptional quality.   All rubber seals were replaced. There is a dark red color hand painted pinstripe that separates the two tone paint.   There is also a “peace. love. music” emblem hand painted on the rear cargo door.

 All of the louvered windows were disassembled. the frames and components were highly polished and then powder coated clear coat to preserve the finish.   Most of the louvered glass was replaced and new seals were added.

 All door locks were replaced and new door handles added.   The front door windows were completely disassembled and all seals were replaced.   The window locks are new and the window lock tracks are polished stainless steel.   The vent windows are also all new with new seals and handles.   The gas door is open with an “old school” church key.

The rear cargo door and the side barn doors mechnisims are all rebuilt and restored.  All new door seals were added.

The front and rear bumpers were repaired and straightened and were professionally triple chrome plated.

The front windshield glass and rubber seals are new and the wiper arms have the pivot release to “park” the wipers on the bottom of the glass.  (safari window type)

The mirrors are stainless steel harp mirror brackets with the square original mirrors.   (No mirror vibration).

All the exterior lights and emblems are new.

DRIVER COMPARTMENT INTERIOR:

The front seats are completely restored. All new seat belts. rubber mats. steering wheel. horn button. and turn signal switch. All switches and electrical work as designed. The shifter is also rebuilt.

The radio is a RETRO SOUND 4 channel radio with USB. AUX IN and AMP OUT circuitry.   The front dash speaker is a matching RETROSOUND stereo speaker.   There are two additional speakers mounted in the rear behind the seat.   This stereo really cranks! The dash radio and speaker area are uncut and original.

The door panels and forward panels are ABS black plastic.   All handles are chrome plated.   All of the door mechanisms were either replaced or refurbished.   The ash tray is new (chrome) and there is a chrome drink holder which attaches to the dash speaker plate.  The bus is also equipped with an NOS "dash board Jesus" and a string of love beads.

REAR CAMPER INTERIOR:

The original EZ Camper of America interior was removed.   (I still have 99% of the original wood interior that will go with the vehicle if you want it).

In its place is a beautifully designed “California custom” interior complete with a fold out bed. vintage Coleman ice box. stove and heater. storage compartments. and a custom made surfboard modular table.   The headliner is white perforated material attached to hard board.   The side panels are custom made hardboard with black and cream material.   The entire rear of the vehicle is carpeted black. This interior is very modular. The table and ice box are easily removed in minutes. All of the Coleman equipment is from the late 60's to match the era.   The curtains are high quality sun resistant material custom made for each window. The material is doubled to get the same look inside and outside.   There is an LED interior light attached to the headboard.

The bulkhead behind the front seat and cabinetry is all custom made.   Also comes with vintage radio shack flash lights and CB radio!

SUSPENSION. ELECTRICAL AND BRAKES:

All brake components were replaced.   The master cylinder. wheel cylinders. brake shoes. hardware. and rubber lines are all new.   All pedals were powder coated black.

The electrical system was inspected and repaired or replaced as needed.

The steering and suspension was inspected and repaired or replaced as needed.   The vehicle has a very tight feel with virtually no steering play or excessive run-out.

 TIRES AND WHEELS:

The rims are original 15 inch bus wheels.   They were “inspected and trued”. The 4 rims and spare rim were powder coated to match the pearl white exterior paint.   The hub caps and plastic red accent trim are new.   The tires are new Nexen 165 80R 15.   The spare tire is a 14 inch rim with a brand new tire mounted.

UNDER CARRIAGE:

The underside is mostly untouched and no rust or damage is present. The undercarriage was steam cleaned and de-greased. The frame and floor are near perfect and still show the original paint.   The shifter rod has new bushings and the clutch and throttle cables are all new.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION:

The engine serial number is AH087066.   The engine is not the stock motor and is a Type 1. 1600 CC. California dual port motor manufactured 1973/74.   The engine is in excellent condition.   All sheet metal is powder coated black.   Everything is new on the engine.   The block was rebuilt several years ago by the prior owner but only a driven a short time.  

The transmission was rebuilt several years ago by the previous owner but only driven a short time.   The trans and reduction gear boxes were cleaned. seals replaced and fresh oil changed.   It shifts perfectly.  I believe this is the original transmission. drive shafts and reduction gear boxes.

 ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

The engine compartment looks as nice as the exterior of the vehcle.  The inside was painted sealing wax red. all new engine rubber seals were installed.  new starter. battery cables. regulator. distributor rebuilt. carb rebuilt. wires and plugs. The gas tank is in excellent condition.  It was removed and flushed. The steel and rubber fuel lines are all new along with the sender. All of the engine electrical was professionally recreated and installed. The crank pully is an alloy degree pully.   The air cleaner is powder coated black with an all new bellow.

PAPERWORK AND TITLE:

This vehicle is currently registered in the State of California.   The title is free and clear and is not a salvage or damage title.   No smog required.   There is a large envelope of receipts that go with the vehicle.   The vehicle has the original black California license plates that are expertly restored.   They will go with the vehicle even it goes out of state. The EZ Camper of America and the State of California Camper ID plates are brand new. The two ID plates in the cab are in place.  The mileage shown is 72. 00  which I believe to be original.  This vehicle was not driven for many years.
