Current customer rating: (351 votes ) based onIf you are reading this. you likely know the car's basics already. But maybe not this option. For my college graduation car. I ordered the center cushion/armrest “love” seat option (with its own sixth passenger seatbelt) for Sue H. instead of the gaudy console and floor shifter (feel free to purchase salvage parts and retrofit if you must). Sue also convinced me to not get one of those bare bones. vinyl bench seat. “taxicab looking” Hemi Roadrunners on the MoPar lot — now worth around a half million in this condition with this actual odo reading! Sport Furies are NOT pure muscle car. There were no hemi ‘67 Sport Furies. This is a slow-when-local and high-speed-when-long-distance cruising. touring. and romance car.
This virgin vehicle has always been stored indoors and never driven in rain except on long trips to car shows — then immediately redetailed on arrival. Will include car cover if requested or I can now use it to cover my lap pool. Yes. of course the top moves smoothly up and down at the touch of a button and with only two large handles to swing into place behind visors. Glass rear window can remain in place or I think be unzipped (I haven't).
Please search for “1967 Sport Fury” in YouTube to hear her start and see her run in the hands of a trusted surrogate. I am a recent amputee and can no longer drive or detail her as she deserves. Except for annual car show cross-countries. since Sue died (collision in her tiny Saab 93F) and I retired to Florida. Summerthing has only been driven 10 miles weekends out and back on my paved dead end farm country back road in clear weather with one gradual acceleration each return trip up to triple digits on the longest straight and then coasted back down. Tracks unerringly straight like a locomotive and still corners gleefully when asked. Handles much better without the monster tires (which seemed like a good idea at the time but just not authentic). Highway MPG also increased 10-20% after returning to standard size . Brakes. hoses. belts. and universals replaced prior to two trouble-free glides north last year so only ~4. 00 miles wear on them. Powerful and smooth are two appropriate descriptors for this automobile at full song. especially with its ten foot wheelbase and eighteen foot overall length (comparable to same era much pricier Bonnevilles which are also significantly heavier). Turn up the volume on that video.
Only around 3. 00 Sport Fury Convertibles were built for the 1967 model year versus far more of the cheaper base Plymouth Fury convertibles and around 350. 00 Fury autos of all kinds. If this is not the most perfect 67SF convertible extant in North America today. I'd be honored to meet that better one and bow in deference to its owner. as others will extend respect to you.
This vehicle is a pure unmolested virgin. — always stored indoors. never hot-rodded. stroked or bored. Well. in full disclosure. I've stroked her affectionately more than a few times and you'll never be bored driving with all the smiles. waves. and "thumbs up.
PLEASE do NOT confuse her with the cheaper Fury III convertible (some of those despicably now carrying false “Sport Fury” insignia like those grifters who fake having a '67 GTO by putting decals and badges on a Tempest) whose tacky tacked-on chrome side strips destroy the sensually subtle hip lines and interrupt the unrippled endless span of the largest single flat sheet fender ever installed on an American car. Nor confuse her with the godawful cheap. sad 1968 Sport Fury which to save production costs did away with the painted four piece front fender insignia replacing it with a tricolor decal. then eliminated this 67's gorgeous sculpted boattail trunk lid featuring six individual light segments — by just slicing it all off. installing a flat pool table trunk lid. and slapping a drab flat full-width light bar on its ass. That is not "style" but tasteless expediency and whichever executive demanded and approved it should live forever in infamy (or Yugoslavia).
One professional reviewer recently wrote: “If you find a Fury with the TorqueFlite automatic that has been properly maintained. you have nothing to fear unless it has had prolonged storage without use as seals may leak. ” This car has been and still is driven regularly on that ten mile circuit sufficient for thorough warmup. gentle but invigorating exercise. and a soothing cool down. As Sam Elliott might say: “Never been rode hard and put away wet”.
The Sport Fury is pure sculpture on the outside. no chrome. no stripes. no swoops and bends and flares. Just sleek flat flanks and a hint of hips. Inside are two tall chrome-and-carpet-backed buckets facing a unique sweeping spaceship-like instrument panel with aircraft style toggle switches and soft. wide. recessed night lighting ahead of its time.
Automotive art.
