Most home restorers and professionals alike would agree that the two most difficult parts of any Porsche restoration are the bodyshell and the engine. And not just because of the skills. experience and equipment required but mostly because the costs are so hard to predict. You don't know what's in an engine until you strip it. you can't see under old paint and filler until you remove it. Then its too late - costs have trebled!

We bought this car out of San Francisco about 3 years ago. As you can see from the pictures it had some rust but was complete and the outer panels are in excellent condition. We borrowed the engine for our 356 historic road rally car and rebuilt it to a very decent spec. It has new bearings. flywheel. 200mm clutch. fast road cam. 86mm big bore kit. new 40 IDF webers. alternator conversion. new oil pump. big valve heads etc. etc. Its done 2500 kms.

The rest of the car was stripped to the shell. All parts are bagged & tagged. Everything is included except for the wheels in the pictures.

We are just doing the last few jobs on the shell. All the rot & rust has been cut out and new panels welded in including suspension pan. sills. kidney bowls etc. It was done using our own celette jig and roll over fixture. Its very good and very straight. Now read for prep and paint. Its a LHD LWB shell that could be used to re-shell a 911 of course.

Buy the whole lot and finish the restoration.

Or we might split it providing we get buyers for the shell and the engine in place first so please don't email asking how much for this. that etc.
