1954 CITROEN HZ VAN

I am listing my very rare and in very good condition 1954 Citroen HZ van. I purchased it in March 2011 in the Bordeaux region of France and had it imported here. but I do have 4 short H vans and need to make room in the garage for a 6 meter van. so since this one is the one driven the least. I have decided to try to find it a new home.

It is powered by the same engine as the traction avant so parts are fairly easy to get. it starts and runs very well. all 3 gears are smooth. The previous owner restored the van. on the photo link you can see photos of the previous owner with the van and the spots they repaired before a repeint in original AC109. I had the Michelin livery stickers made ( so they ar easily removable) for an event at a local race track. they had historical races and the H van was invited to participate as a support vehicle ( did a couple laps on the track. top speed about 50 mph!)

I have been really undecided to sell it since it is really hard to find the very old H vans like this one with the split front window. rippled hood. The only thing I did to the van since taking ownership was replace the exhaust manifold that was cracked and installed  a K&N air filter ( I kept the original one). The van is wired in 6 volts. the rear lights were added for safety at some time since the original 54 only had the stop light still present by the license plate. front turn signals were also added since the van only had the arrows ( semaphores) on the side by the front doors. they still work as can be seen in one of the photos.

The van is fun to drive. just take your time getting to wherever you are going. it has a couple paint chips from shipping. they can be seen in the photos. but overall a very nice van with good brakes and good tires. It would be perfect for advertising a business or to add to any Citroen collection. The previous owner used it to take is dog and go hunting.

A few answers:

Can I tow my boat or equipement trailer? : No! the 50 bhp motor will not allow you to do that.

What is the load limit?: according to the model 850 Kg ( 1870 pounds). but again same as above with full load. it will be very slow. I did help a friend move a motorcycle and other car parts with no problems but I leave in Michigan. pretty flat around here.

What safety features are there?: None. just a good prayer.

I personnally would not chopped this van to turn it into a food truck. for that purpose contact hyspares (hyspares. com) and have them find you a later. more powerfull model and not so rare. This one should stay as is. It will bring a smile to your face with every ride and plenty of questions from curious people.

For the bad: It is slow. so expressway driving is right lane only. It likes to mark it's territory in the garage by leaking a little oil and trans fluid. the output shaft seal do not last!. /p>
