Features

titled as a 1966 Volkswagen odo reads 17. 43 miles. could be original. could be 117. 243 miles (unknown) if the engine is original to 1966. it is likely a 1300cc with a 4-speed manual transmission body plate shows Bremen Sport of Bremen Indiana. serial number C030284054 my research suggests this is a Bremen Speed Equipment Citation (if I'm wrong please let me know) reproductions of these were also made in later years by Berrian Buggy since I've only two others with the factory matching hard top and side rain doors I'm going to assume it is pretty unusual to have these hard top comes off with four clamps and two bolts. easy to remove color is metal flake green with black interior and chrome roll bar always stored inside as the condition shows front seats adjust and have lap belts I have one ignitiuon key clean Illinois title in hand. "speed buggy" is in Mahomet. IL

Cosmetic condition

overall curb appeal is great. a real head-turner gelcoat on fiberglass body is in great shape with only one decent sized scratch on the upper body (shown in pics) there is also one rub from the left front wheel on the tub not cracks or damage to tub or body / roof tires are period correct Super-Wide GT Grand Am's in good shape. lots of tread and not weather cracked nice fat chrome wheels with a few pits and touches of surface rust but pretty nice rain shields (side doors) in great shape with perfect zippers. side doors have vinyl bags that they store in frame and underbody has no notewothy rust. front hand rear bumper tubes could use a touch up one bump-stop on the front suspension held on with gear clamp. I'd look into that interior vinyl seats near perfect. with one small repair (taped) on rear of driver seat indoor-outdoor carpet in good shape chrome has very minor pitting here and there but pretty nice for age couple of small cracks in windshield near rear view mirror mount

Mechanical condition

buggy starts quickly and idles well. good battery (mounts under rear seat. could use some hold down straps) when oil is hot. oil light flicks on at idle (no change in top end engine noise so I expect this is a finicky sensor) has some squeaks. rattles and a little twitchiness at speed but typical lightweight buggy ride has chrome air filter housing and new filter I drove it 30 miles to my house on the highway at about 60-65 mph (see video) VW speedo measures 10-15 mph low. fuel gauge works lights and turn signals work. as do wipers and stereo. horn present but does not work manual steering ok. some slop typical of an old bug. manual brakes good 4-speed tranny and clutch work well parking brake there but does not lock on. needs attention exhaust with chrome pipes solid and sounds good. not too loud as with most old VW engines. has some oil leaks but leaves spots not puddles. may tighten up as was just taken out of winter storage
