1936 Rolls Royce 25/30 Golfers coupe with dickey.

Chassis number: GUL 17
Registration number: CYE 305.

A very rare unique & unusual Rolls Royce. GUL 17 was sold originally on 19 th February 1936 by Jack Barclay to One Victor Jobson of Qualcast Ltd. The chassis was sent to H. J. Mulliner in Chiswick where the body was fitted. In 1937 for reasons unknown the original Mulliner body was moved to Chassis GWN 70 At the behest of the owner. Jobson. The Chassis was then shipped to Aberdeen where it had been purchased by a Mr Young of Aberdeen motors.

Young commissioned the current body in 1937/8 from coach-builders J & W Georgeson a firm whom's primary expertise lay in construction of bus bodies. It is they who were responsible for the rakish & highly unusual 2 door coupe coachwork we find on the car today. They in turn sold the car to Mr James Scott of Inchgarth. Pitfodels A building contractor & shareholder in Aberdeen motors.

Scott employed the services of a chauffeur to conduct him in the car. A large man. Scott was remembered as a gentleman who was always well turned out in pinstripe suit. bowler hat & never seen without a carnation in his lapel. He used the car apparently up until his 85 th year at which time it was sold to one Arthur Griffin of Telford.

The car today is in very fine lightly patinated condition. The two tone black over silver paintwork suits the coachwork beautifully & is in good order. Twin cased side-mount spare wheels enhance the cars appearance. A smokers protrudes from the top of the roof giving good ventilation. Twin trumpet horns & a central spot lamp adorn the front of the car.

The interior of the car is of Black leather in good order but that would benefit from a re-colouring. The grey carpets are fairly new & excellent as is the woodwork. To the rear the dickey has seen little use with the leather thus being really fine. To the roof interior is a newish wool headlining.

Tidy under the bonnet the mechanics have in recent years been looked after by Marque specialist Jonathan Wood a firm well renowned for the quality of their work. The car was driven 100 or so miles up to the National RR rally at Rockingham where we took the attached photographs.

To sum up. this is a fine & unusual car in super running condition & ready for extended use. I do not expect to ever see anther quite like it.
