This year is the 40 th. anniversary of the movie "The California Kid" staring Martin Sheen. Nick Nolte. Vic Morrow and Michele Phillips.

Have you have every wanted to own The California Kid hotrod? If so and you inquired. you quickly found out it is not . or will it ever be for sale.

Here for the first time is your opportunity to acquire the next best thing. Not only the closest car to the original but a complete California Kid collection.
This all steel 1933 Ford 3 window coupe was originally built into a hotrod at Pete & Jakes shop sitting next to the original in an effort to copy the Bonneville perfectly. The top is chopped so well we could not tell where it was cut.  The only hint of any work area is the difference in the color of body lead used in the chop and the original steel. The rust free original Ford body has never had any patch panels. We could not even find a hammer mark inside any panels. evidence body work had been performed at some time.
The frame is original Ford with the front crossmember modified per the original. Front suspension is all new Pete & Jakes 4" dropped and drilled "I-beam" axle with SSBC brakes. chrome Bilstein gas shocks and chrome mono-leaf springRear suspension is Posies elliptical spring pack with polished aluminum Bilstein gas shocks
All brake brake lines are stainless steel. Fuel lines are EFI ethanol proof lines.
Motor is a 383 stroker. with aluminum Trick-Flo heads. Duro chrome Edelbrock intake. Edelbrock 4bb carb. Edelbrock valve covers and breathers. Sanderson jet-hot QP1000 headers. Magna Flow polished SS exhaust. Griffin polished aluminum radiator with shroud.
Trans is a fresh 2004r overdrive with aluminum pan.
Interior is full taupe leather with custom Wise-Guys seat. Ididit tilt column. uto-Meter gauges. Vintage AC/H/D. Pw. PB. DCS. Custom stereo sytem with one of a kind amp by Kicker. electric trunk. Painless Wiring.
Body is laser straight with House of Color black paint with tradition flames.
Nottingham grill. California Kid front and rear bumpers.
This car is in get in and go condition.
Jerry Slover (owner. Pete & Jakes) said " this is the closest thing to the original I have ever seen" No one can tell the difference! The Slover's helped with the build by supplying schematics of the louvers and their orientation. A CNC die was made to copy to shape of the louvers. High quality are work from all sides was used to remove the profile of the flames and create a template so the flames are the same as on the original. right down to the differences from one side to the other.
The car was featured on Car Crazy in 2012 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas when it was chosen from over 500 cars to be position directly behind the stage and be in all interviewing shots the entire week. It was featured on the cover of Drive magazine's fall 2013 issue with a 7 page article inside.
In addition to the car. you get one of only 18 Bronze statues of the California Kid made by Stanley Wanlass. The one I have is one of two that are marked as "EC (exhibitors copy). Mr. Wanlass has the only other one!
Also. to complete the best California Kid collection. I have all three die cast models produced of the California Kid plus all magazines featuring the original car.
This has been a dream of a car to won but it is just not getting the driving it should so it is time to let it go.
Here is your opportunity to drive it into the Streetrod Nationals in Louisville. Ky. in August and set it next to the original.
