Offered for sale is my 1600 E Mk II Cortina. Series 1. It has had just 3 owners from new.
The previous owner purchased in 1991 when he completed a full restoration and respray in two-pack Blue Mink (original colour).
He refurbished the engine five years ago. had it bored to +60 (approx 1660 cc) and had the head converted with hardened valve seats. so it can now safely run on plain unleaded petrol. It has covered 15. 00 miles since the engine refurb.
The interior is very tidy. with the front seats seeing a professional restoration five years ago.
The only non-standard item is the Ford radio. seen in picture 9. It comes with an original map-reading light below the passenger glove compartment.
The car has been dry stored every winter since 1991. only coming out on dry days from Easter to Autumn.
The previous owner was a Ford Main Dealer mechanic and electrical technician from 1961 (when he left school) to 1985. so he grew up maintaining this vintage of car on a daily basis.
Due to its age. its obviously tax exempt. and the MOT runs until March 2014. It has never failed an MOT since 1991.
I wouldn't describe the car as concourse as it's been sympathetically repaired in the usual places (e. g. top-mounts. lower arch areas. and also behind the front wheel. as seen in the slight paint colour difference respray see in picture 3).
There is the early sign of rust just appearing through at the front of the nearside front wing.
Other than that. I would describe it as very clean and tidy without being immaculate.
The photos show it in its true light.
It's fitted with a stainless steel exhaust. and had a new battery this year.
