1973 Volkswagen THING Convertible Type 181 STUNNING CONDITION, No Reserve

This is my 1973 Volkswagen Thing Type 181 convertible multi-purpose vehicle with 78. 01 miles.
This is an outstanding condition Volkswagen Thing- probably one of the nicest ones you'll find for sale.  This is a collector's quality vehicle in superb shape.
This car has been part of the collection of an 82-year-old classic car collector since 1995.  This Thing has been kept in a heated garage and meticulously maintained and cared for.  I have the full detailed maintenance history and all receipts for work done to the car during his ownership.  
This VW Thing is really. really nice.  I cannot imagine where you would find a nicer one.  This car is super clean in every nook and cranny. and outstandingly and meticulously cared for in every way.  This car was the showpiece of an older man's car collection; it was treated like his baby. and it shows.
This VW has never been driven in the snow and has not been exposed to road salt.  The body is super clean and even the underside is completely solid and outstandingly clean.  
The paint and body are beautiful.  The paint is glossy. clean and in excellent condition.  The body is as ultra-clean. solid and rust-free as you'll ever find for a VW Thing.  Even the interior painted surfaces are superb and look like they did when the car was new.  The seats and upholstery are very good and the convertible top is in great condition.  
This was intended as a fun. off-road style vehicle and not only is it a convertible. but the side curtains and doors are removable and the windshield folds down flat.  
This VW runs and drives great.  The engine starts and runs beautifully and the whole car is "tight"- the suspension. steering. clutch. shifter and all moving parts are tight and solid with no indications of age or wear.  
This car drives outstandingly well.  It is responsive. smooth and drives beautifully. There are no known mechanical issues of any kind.
The gasoline-fueled passenger compartment heater was disconnected years ago for safety reasons although it was working perfectly at the time.
The more closely you look at this VW. the better the car looks. It is super clean right down to the last nook and crevice.  
This car has the original owner's manual plus the original tool kit. jack and gloves.  A great deal of service books and parts manuals come with the car. plus the full set of service records and receipts since 1995 as well as several boxes of spare parts including the original radio and speaker plus one extra side curtain window.  There is an original Volkswagen dealer THING sales brochure included as well.
The previous owner's full service history is included. A summary of the service history is as follows: Brake system rebuild including new master cylinder. four new wheel cylinders. new bleeder valves. new brake shoes and new spring kits.  Brake drums were turned. fluid was renewed and all brake lines bled.  New (not rebuilt) carburetor. new fuel pump. new fuel filter. new hose connections at fuel tank plus fuel tank removed and cleaned.  New air intake filter. new spark plugs and wires. new points and condenser. ignition coil. rotor and distributor. New wheel bearings and new generator. 5 new tires plus new battery.  
This Thing was bought to be towed behind the owner's RV. It has a towing bracket and wiring set up in the front bumper.  If you were to pick nits. here is the complete list of faults I'm aware of: the very front of the car has been repainted due to stone nicks incurred when it was towed behind the owner's RV.  The fuel gauge works intermittently. There are tiny small nicks and other very small imperfections in the paint.  The brake pedal is firm and stops the car properly. but it actuates low in the travel- the  previous owner believes there is an adjustment.  
Although not all the photos show it. this car does come with four side curtain windows plus an extra.
