1980 Morgan 4/4 Roadster

Alloy Body

Thanks for looking at my rare 1980 Morgan 4/4

This is an exceptional original car with only 34. XX original miles. Finished in tan with brown wings. tan leather with brown piping. the car is absolutely beautiful. No door dings or dents. the car is in great condition. This is truly one of the most romantic of all roadsters built by a company that has been manufacturing cars for more than 100 years- Morgan continues to make cars today.

I am the second owner. we bought this car in 1997. We have some of the records from the original owner and records during our ownership. The car has been absolutely great. needing next to nothing over the years. The 4 cylinder engine has always purred like a kitten. the 4 speed gearbox and clutch have always been flawless. running very smoothly. The car has had oil changes with synthetic oil every year. The interior and exterior of the car are great. and all the equipment works well including the heater. The great thing about alloy bodies is that they limit the possibility of rust.

I installed new leather on the seats about 5 years ago. the originals were starting to crack. The new leather looks great. it is soft and supple. About 6 years ago I replaced the wire wheels with exact OEM Dayton brand wheels and fresh tires. They are true knock-off wheels. The brown leather on the top of the doors (the arm rests) are cracked a bit- I liked the patina of this. replacing the leather would be under $150 if you feel the need.

There is a new battery. Over the many years the car has needed very little. the roadster has been one of the least expensive car to own I have had.

The Morgan has never been smoked in and never been on a race track. Living in Wisconsin. the car is garage kept in a climate controlled garage. I have only driven in the summer. the car has never seen rain. It has a good stereo. it is discretely located underneath the “glove box” and is not visible when viewing into the car.

Included in the sale are:

The covetable top

Tannu cover (not in perfect shape but usable)

Side curtains

Wheel knockoff mallet and Jack

Records. 2 keys.

Emergency fuel tank (for long trips)

The exterior paint is in very good condition especially considering it is original. The rims are good with no curb rash. The car has never been in an accident. The car has always run and handled well.

The reason for the sale: I am simply not driving it as much as I had in the past. time for me to pass along ownership to another passionate buyer.

A word about propane: From the mid-to-late 70's and into the mid-to-late 80”s ALL Morgans imported to the US were converted to propane to pass US regulations by Isis Imports when they entered the country. Most Morgans from this era still run on this fuel. Originally I had planned to convert the car back to gas. it was quite inexpensive requiring the fuel tank and a carburetor- easy to acquire. If my memory was correct it was under $800 to get it done. Upon delivery. I found that propane was available everywhere. and taking long trips with the car was easy. There was also a big upside to staying with propane- it is a clean fuel. Although being a “green” car has its environmental upsides. the big payoff was benefits to the engine. The oil never gets dirty. The spark plugs remain clean. Engines last. No worrying about fuel stabilizer over the winter- propane never goes bad. All U-Haul and RV locations can fill the car. I found most places that fill propane grill tanks can also fill the car (same fittings). I filled the car once at an Ace Hardware store. The price per gallon is less than regular unleaded. The buyer will also have the option of converting back to gas. but I would bet they will keep it propane as most owners do. Included in the sale (pictured) is an emergency tank. this is used when taking long trips. it provides 50 or so extra miles should you need it. The range is similar to gasoline Morgans.

Note that I have sold several cars on EBay and have over 600 transactions that are 100% positive.
