British Racing Green / Tan Leather Interior with custom Black Pile Carpet for sale
Current customer rating:
Being offered is my 1960 Morgan 4/4 Sports Roadster. I have owned this car since 1986. nbsp;over the past 28 years it has always been garaged and maintained. I purchased this car in 1986 from a local Toyota dealer.
The Morgan 4/4 is the longest running production vehicle in the automotive world. Its 75th Anniversary was in 2012. (Google: "Morgan 4/4" for information about this automotive icon.
The Series II was only built from 1955-1960 / only 386 units were built / it was a new car with the new +4 chassis. the 2014 4/4 looks like this Series II! This 4/4 was powered by a Ford 100e. 1. 72cc. 36 horsepower. side valve engine and a 3 speed gearbox (it was junk). This 4/4 was up dated by the previous owner by professionally installing a MGA . 1. 00 cc. 78 hp @ 5500 rpm. OHV engine with a MG 4 speed gearbox. This change. with twice the horsepower makes for a smoother more dependable engine. It starts with a push of a button. I did a compression check last week and all 4 cylinders were 150. It idles like a watch Its oil pressure is 75lbs @2000/ 40 at idle. The 4 speed and clutch are very smooth. Clutch master and slave cylinders have been rebuilt . nd a new flex pipe installed. Mechanically this car was in great shape when I bought it in '86. As we all know these older cars need constant TLC. If you don't want to be constantly working on these cars. buy a newer one.
I've gone thru the brakes. rebuilt all of the wheel cyl. replaced all flex lines. nbsp; and used Castrol brake fluid. Series II had 4 wheel drum brakes. The electrical had no issues.
The paint had issues. I didn't like the BRG the car was painted. it also had a few dings. no rust. I bought a TR-6 in 1969. I loved the BRG it was painted in. so much that I've had my TR-3A and this Morgan painted in the same BRG. It was painted professionally with a PPG base/clear coat (1969 BRG/TR-6) All fenders. doors. hood. front surround. were removed and painted. (see pics. ) The fender welting and all screws. bolts. washers . nuts (stainless steel) rubber pieces were replaced with Morgan replacement parts from Motor Motors of New England (They are excellent in replacement parts for any Morgan) I replaced the dash with a 1" solid walnut handmade dash. During this spring I used 6 sq. yds. of black pile automobile carpet. consisting of 22 pieces to replace loop carpet from the 80"s. I had all necessary edges bound . and this is truly a custom carpet installation.
The options for this Series II are: leather seats . black pile carpet. heater. Brookland steering wheel. hood belt. fender mirrors. turn signals. tonneau. (no top or side curtains. ). rev. counter. side exhaust. . new 5 year battery. The tires are Cooper 4-ply bias tires. no dry rot. but they are old. I have the top frame and tonneau. but no top and side curtains.
I'm selling my 4/4 because I'm downsizing. You have to be very "agile" to get in/out of a Morgan. I'm not now. There are no issues with rot/rust/accident damages with this car. This 4/4 is in outstanding condition for a 54 year old .
