This listing is for a 1969 ford escort mk1 mark1 2 doors SUPER (Square headlamps) which makes it rare and is a matching numbers engine and chassis.

The escort was last year dismantled from everything to a rolling shell and fully restored. It was bare metal stripped and fully sprayed in amery white. The restoration incurred the following.

ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/RUNNING GEAR/BREAKS

The engine is the original 1300cc which went out of the factory. The engine was rebuilt with new gaskets. rings. pistons. crank bearings. carb. belts. water pump. engine mountains. radiator and is now running great with good oil pressure.

The gearbox was fine but it had new oil seals. new oil etc. The crosses of the propeller where changed and new oil and oil seals were changed to the differential.

Fuel lines changed as well.

With regards to breaking system all shoes are new. wheel cylinders are new and drums changed with a very good s/hand ones. The break master cylinder was changed with a s/hand one and a new master cylinder kit was installed for peace of mind.

The steering rack was fully overhauled with new bushes. bolt joints and geyters.

Front shock inserts where changed with Koni inserts correct to the year. The rear shocks were also changed.

BODY

The body was fully dismantled from all trims. wiring. running gear. interior including headliner and was fully resprayed in amery white. Engine bay and boot were sprayed as well and there was nothing fixed to the body. The car had no rust issues ; the only panels that were changed are the two; left and right floor boards and the panel under the heater bowl which was bought off ebay for 20gbp brand new. Else no rust whatsoever. Then engine number is still as was originally on the inner wing which explains that the car never had any rust issues from the usual places.

INTERIOR.

New head liner. new carpets. bought matching year front and rear seats. installed seat belts and matching year steering wheel. It is a 1300cc super and therefore it went out with the wooden (aluminium) trim on the dash (which was installed as well) and being a 1969 it has the more squarish switches. New door rubbers. new rear boot rubbers. new windscreen rubber and trim. new bonnet dampers. new bonnet rubbers. cheesecake windscreen washer bottle. new pedal bushes. original rear view mirror (Wingcard made in UK).

ELECTRICAL

Still on dynamo which was refurbished (new coils. brushes and armateur). wiring harness has no cuts and is still with the original plugs in the engine bay. and also where it goes to the front and rear lamps. Dash was fully serviced electrically and is all fully functional. Also installed a blower which the car did not have as it was an extra at that time.

EXTERIOR.

All trims matching to year are in place which include the front and rear FORD badges. the rear escort badge. the rear window and door window chrome trims left and right. the gutter original trims left and right and also the left and right SUPER badges on the wings.

On the front it has the two quarter bumpers although the front standard one I have it as well. The grill is the full aluminium one as per year and includes also the opening from where the bonnet can open. Also the front lock was changed to the original one which opens from the outside.

The wheels are minilites which are correct with the year as the super used to come out with minilites which was an extra as well.

New silences from front to rear. Also the car is still wired with positive earth as it went out of the factory. Also bullet door chrome mirrors were installed.

I think I have explained the work that was carried out on this car well and a lot of cash has been spent to get the car in this very good condition.
