EXTERIOR
This 300SL is coated in the classic Signal red paintwork which makes for a wonderful combination with the cream interior and chrome detailing. The paintwork is in good condition with no fading to any of the panels. showing a beautiful glassy shine all round. On close inspection there are surprisingly few stone chips to be found towards the front of the car. all of the chrome trim including the window surrounds. front grill and bumpers remain in excellent order with no damage or pitting to the usual areas. complementing the bright paintwork. The bodywork is in fine order with no corrosion to be found in the common areas. the wheel arches are free from rust or bubbling paint and the black sills are in great condition with no signs of usual rust. The car comes with its matching winter hard top. the paintwork on this is in good condition with the exception of one small chip above the rear window. both chrome rails are bright and undamaged.

INTERIOR
The half cream leather checked cloth seats are in excellent condition. with no cracking to the bolsters of fraying of the cloth seat base. On both the front and rear seats the leather is clean and has kept its colour well over the years. The centre console walnut trim is unmarked with no cracks to the lacquer. it extends up and along the base of the dashboard providing a beautiful contrast to the predominantly light interior pallet. Other features including the steering wheel. handbrake and gear knob are showing little wear. having kept a fine texture. In the foot wells the cream carpets are protected by the correct Mercedes over mats that all remain in excellent condition. as does the carpet throughout the car. The original Blaupunkt radio cassette is still present and can be refitted for that totally original feel.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This SL boasts minimal mileage for its age and a fully comprehensive service history. Browsing through the service booklet. it is apparent that this example has always been well maintained having been inspected at the correct intervals. with the majority of the stamps from Mercedes main dealers. The mechanics of the 3 litre engine and 4 speed automatic gearbox still feel tight and responsive together. pulling through the gears with ease providing effortless cruising performance.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
At the corners the SL sits on its original 15" alloy wheels which are all in thoroughly presentable condition. free from any kerb marks and only showing a few light scuffs between them. The alloys are shod in Firestone TZ300 tyres which all have a good amount of tread remaining. the rear tyres were recently replaced and as such still have an ample amount of rubber on them. The brakes work correctly providing the driver with plenty of confidence pulling the car up quickly in a straight line.

HISTORY FILE
This 300SL was first registered in August 1988 and had its running in service the following month at 765 miles. The correct maintenance schedule has been kept up over the years with 12 stamps in the original service book. the first 9 services being carried out at Mercedes-Benz main dealers and the last 3 by a Mercedes specialist. The last service was done in May 2012 at 30. 33 miles. To further verify the low mileage there are also most of the MOT certificates in the history file.

The current registered keeper purchased the car 9 years ago with 18k miles on the clock. The car also comes with its original owners manuals.
