In 1974 Porsche introduced the first production turbocharged 911. Called simply Porsche 911 Turbo in Europe. it was marketed as the Porsche 930 (930 being its internal type number) in North America. The body shape is distinctive thanks to its extended wheel-arches that accommodate the wide wheels and that rear spoiler often known as a "whale tail" on the early cars. and a "tea tray" on the later ones.

Production figures of the basic 930 soon qualified it for FIA Group 4 competition. with the racing versions called a Porsche 934 of 1976. The wilder FIA Group 5 version called the Porsche 935 evolved from the RSR Turbo of 1974.

Porsche power and performance figures for the 1986 930 are very impressive for the time. 300 BHP @ 5500rpm and 318ft lb of torque @4000rpm from a 3. 3 boxer engine with a huge k26 borg warrner turbocharger. mated to a four speed gearbox (in this instance). from 0 to 60 in 5. 1 seconds. this is possible in first gear by just nudging the rev counter into the redline. All this and a top speed of just over 160 miles per hour in the Eighties on a low boost unstressed engine.

This absolutely immaculate and cherished example was registered C443 TBL and was a Porsche club Great Britain press car. it was also used on a BBC Top Gear episode presented by Quinton Wilson back in the day. A three car line up shown to display the evolution of the 911 turbo. and a Pebble Mill Post Production VCR tape is present for provenance.

Exterior

The exterior is finished in a very attractive white gold / champagne metallic paint. the finish is flawless. all panel gaps are correct and true.

The body shape is distinctive thanks to its extended wheel-arches that accommodate the wide wheels and that rear spoiler often known as a "whale tail" on the early cars. and a "tea tray" on the later ones.

Interior

The interior is finished in sumptuous Tan leather with brown carpets that are in perfect condition (no heel ware as over mats have been used from new). The 930 has many extras including heated motorised seats. sunroof. air conditioning. limited slip differential. Porsche immobiliser/alarm with master code.

Boot/Underside

The underside of this vehicle has the standard factory protective coating intact; it is not damaged and has not been re-applied to hide restoration or damage.

Detailing

To find a 911 Turbo in such original condition is rare. please look at the detailing in the images in my Flikr account. study them carefully. look at the spot welding in the luggage compartment. you will see no sign of accident damage. no welding. all original trim. unused spare wheel. all bolts have their red marks to signify the originality in the engine bay as well as the luggage compartment. It is a testament to the build quality that has been achieved by Porsche on this 911 turbo.

Drive Train / Suspension

The engine. turbo. heat exchangers. clutch. gearbox and limited slip differential are all in good order having been maintained by Porsche specialists throughout its life. recently along with a service I had two new rear shocks fitted by Autostrasse a local to me independent Porsche specialist. I have total trust in Autostrasse and have used them for all my Porsche work over many years. Previous owners have used various Porsche specialists such as PORSCHE CARS GREAT BRITAIN. AFN. BOB WATSON.

Porsche 911 Turbo's sit well on the road weather stationary or at speed. my car is standard as it left the factory in 86 apart from the suspension being lowered for looks rather than track work. the tyres have few miles on them and the wheels are in nice condition.

Paperwork/History

The history File on this car is very comprehensive. and has covered just 57. 00 miles from new. supported by a stamped service book. owner's manuals. Tax discs. Current and previous MOT's along with numerous invoices for parts and servicing. there are two sets of keys plus a master key is present.

The cars V5 registration document shows three former keepers since 1986. I acquired her in 2011.

Market Value

The Price of all early 911's are on the rise I can remember when I paid £5000. 0! For a 2. 4 911S some thirty three years ago. it was a great car just like this 930. I wish I still had the S now. and I probably will regret selling this 930 just the same. The 911 turbo price reflects the condition. service history. low miles. the mark history. and the current market values. if you are looking to buy a 930 buy it now before the price goes thru' the roof. As always with any vehicle you get what you pay for. I have made the mistake in the past where I have purchased a car at the lower end of the price scale only to spend far more getting it to the standard were I was happy with it rather than paying the right price for the best car in the market at that time and having a car that can be used and enjoyed straight away.

The registration number TUR80 E on it at the moment does not form part of the sale and will be retained by me prior to the vehicle sale.

I have too many cars in my collection and it's becoming a storage issue. linked to this is that my wife thinks I have a mental problem and OCD. Not using them in order to keep them with low miles and in as new condition is a little compulsive. Basically I would like to sell this car however I don't need to it's not a money issue just a mental problem!!

I don't need any more cars so no part exchange please. come and view the car to satisfy yourself that I am not looking at the car with rose coloured spectacles or full of bull s--t in respect of its condition. No dreamers. No test pilots. No endless e-mails on why it should have this and that please.
