Do not confuse this listing with any other spider on Ebay. This is a just completed Spring delivery from Roadster Salon. This lovely Spider is fully sorted. and the restoration work is warantied. Just turn the key and go.

Please note that this is a limited production 83-85 Pininfarina spider model. which features luxury standard equipment and better build than traditional 80-82 fuel injected Fiat Spider models. Very few of these are still in existance. and only a hand full with low miles and restored to their original splendor.

Each car is lovingly restored to a high standard. faithful to the original example. Customers may select options to tailor their car to specific tastes.

Consequently. nearly all our cars are built to order. and only a scant few are available for sale each year to the general public that were not pre-ordered.

Overview

We purchased this car from an Arizona dealer last Fall. It was a beautiful. rust free example when it arrived. Our full cosmetic and mechanical restoration process was undertaken. and the end result is simply stunning. Detailed information about what this process entails can be found on our web site.

The "Avanti" package features premium leather seats and head rests. leather door panels. accents. and leather rear wings. In keeping with the original theme. the stunning factory carpets were retained. The signature Azzura Blue color combination. and quality workmanship result in one of the most beautiful cars we have ever completed.

Cosmetic Impressions

To begin a restoration with a rust free. beautifully maintained Arizona car is dream. It made the task a pleasure. with none of the nasty short comings that some of our projects need to have resolved. Exterior is show quality. No scratches or imperfections. The color combination is ideal for warm climates. In 1983. this was the featured version in all Pininfarina advertising. hence the Pininfarina Azzura name.

We can't say enough about the "Avanti" full leather interior. All key surfaces were covered by hand with premum caprone leather--cut from the same hyde. No color match issues. Workmanship in Ferrari-Maseratti territory. Bellissimo. Car has an optional leather rear seat which can be deleted. Photos show with or without the installation.

Mechanical and Driving Impressions

It is a joy to drive a fully sorted classic Italian convertible. Panel fitment is better than when the car came out of the factory. Engine. transmission and suspension are crisp and tight. Car has functioning factory air conditioning.

The goal was not to build a $100 K trailer queen. but rather a car that could be casually enjoyed when ever the passion arises. In that regard. this stirring recreation exceeds all reasonable expectations. 10/10.

Pricing

It is important to note that restored automobiles in general are built for the love and enjoyment of their owners. They are not hugely profitable endeavors--for the builder or reseller. To value a Roadster Salon Spider along side a used Fiat--or measure by a "car guide" is to miss the point of the car entirely. Considering the quality. workmanship. and warranty. these cars are one of the great values in the market today.

What is a Spider Basso?

Firstly. our Spider restorations typically fall into two categories.

Basso. and Avanzato (basic and avanced) Roadster Salon carefully selects candidates for restoration that are already in good overall condition. and meet our critical standards. Cars that require complete top to bottom rehabilitation are set aside for parts use only. Spider Basso models are re-painted in their original color. due to the cost of a proper color change.

All Roadster Salon cars are fully disassembled before paint. Interiors are refurbished. including new upholstery. carpets. door panels and console. A new convertible top is professionally installed.

Please see our web site for a complete list of mechanical items addressed in Basso models. Wear items like tires. brakes. and shocks are always replaced. Other key items inspected and repaired/replaced are fuel system. cooling system. suspension. transmission. timing belt. and engine gaskets and seals. Engine compartments are tidy. but not detailed to Avanzato standards.

Spider Avanzato

Generally. we build advanced level Spiders by contract. and only for specific customers---not for general inventory.

Paint work is more ambitious. with more extensive preparation and finish times. Paint cost is typically double the budgeted amount in a base restoration. Undetectable exterior and Interior color changes are possible. Interiors are replaced completely. and feature full leather material upgrades and custom installation.

Mechanical work is not limited only to items in need of obvious repair. Engines and transmissions are removed from the car and completely rebuilt. Undercarriage is fully detailed and painted to a show standard. Avanzato restorations typically take 6-12 months to complete. with prices from $35. 00-$45. 00.
