1978 VW T2 Camper Van. Late Bay. Subaru Engine Conversion Project
Hi there and welcome to the auction for my VW T2 Camper Van project which includes an almost complete 2001 Subaru Legacy saloon.
Firstly the van.  It is in very sound structural condition with only the sills that need to be replaced as they are rusted through.  Included in the sale are a full set of brand new sills from Just Kampers.  The bodywork is in good condition with no rust spots or areas needing attention. the paint job isn't the best but would do for now.  I was planning on a full respray in a different colour once I had completed the engine conversion.  The van is pretty much complete although many parts need to be fitted as they are loose at the moment such as the front side windows. window winders door handles etc.  The van also comes with a large box of brand new spare parts which again were ordered from Just Kampers including. a full set of window and door seals. a full lock set. brake calliper refurbishment kits and wiper arms. There is probably more but i cant remember the rest at the moment.
Now the conversion.  I had planned on doing an engine conversion from the original 1. 6 T2 engine to a Subaru 2. 5 normally aspirated flat 4.  A company called RJES Engineering do a bolt on conversion kit which I was planning on using. but have not got round to buying as yet.  I have however removed both the T2 engine and the Subaru engine ready to do the swap. I planned on refurbishing the Subaru engine (a service and some cosmetic powder coating etc for it) prior to installing it.  I have removed everything from the Legacy which is needed for the conversion including the engine. full front wiring looms (all labelled as far as possible). the key and immobiliser transponder and even the cruise control unit and controls.  Everything is included in this auction including the rest of the Legacy.  I have sold the boot lid and a couple of bits of interior trim from it. but otherwise the whole car is there. albeit on the back seats and in the boot!
Now the Subaru.  It is a 2001 Legacy saloon 2. 5 normally aspirated GX model.  It has an MOT until August 14 but the tax has just run out and so is SORN.  I planned on weighing the car in for scrap once the parts had been removed. but thought that I would try and sell a few bits off it first; I'm now obviously giving the winning bidder the chance to do this.  The gearbox and diffs are worth a fair bit on their own while the leather interior is in really good condition as well.  I have a fair few receipts for work carried out by a Subaru main dealer including a recent cam belt and clutch change.  The car had done just over 100. 00 miles when i took it off the road. but had been well looked after mechanically hence why i bought it for my conversion plans.
In summary.  You are bidding on a Late Bay VW camper which is in good condition with only the sills needing attention (there are a full set of new sills included in the sale).  The van comes with over £800 worth of brand new parts from Just Kampers. the original engine which runs very well. a Subaru Legacy car which is almost complete.  This is an excellent opportunity to obtain a very sound bodied T2 which you can make your own from scratch. while also having the raw materials to carry out a popular engine conversion.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. and to come and view the vehicles before you bid.  I would recommend viewing to fully appreciate the condition of the van and the amount of spares which will come with it.
Thank you for looking and happy bidding.
