1971 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SHADOW 1 - GENUINE 40K MILES!! LOVELY SPECIFICATION, HUGE SERVICE HISTORY, CHROME BUMPERSPLEASE READ DESCRIPTION - PROJECT - Trailer requiredPotentially part of Max Bygraves Rolls Royce Collection.I can't believe I'm actually doing this but here for sale is my beautiful 1971 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, please say hello to 'Penelope' or Penny for short :) Now, let me explain the story behind Penny...I bought her from a car dealership in Bournemouth about 2 years ago, it was love at first sight. The local residents confirmed it was once owned by Max Bygraves himself. Annoyingly, I struggled to find photographic evidence to support this. However, apparently the locals saw him driving around the streets of Bournemouth & saw Penny parked outside his house. I bought her for a very pretty penny indeed & have enjoyed her every mile. I spent over £4000 on a full service, brakes & inspection late last year. It was running as sweet as nut. I decided to also redo the wood (full dash & door cards) all round costing over £1500. I haven't added a recent photograph but the wood is in brand spanking new condition (went to a Rolls Royce wood specialist in Crewe).Until one day....Around 3 months ago Penny stalled out of the blue...I phoned the AA & they started it up, ran perfectly for 1 minute then stalled again. After a few tries it then wouldn't start at all...just turned over! :OLong story short....me, my Rolls Royce mechanic & the AA have been scratching our heads to work out the cause of it. They said potentially there's a problem with the coil, a broken distributor cap or a fuel pump issue. I suspect the fuel pump myself.Unfortunately, I don't have the time right now to investigate it further & I don't want her sat doing nothing. THE POSITIVES: - A very very low genuine mileage Rolls Royce at 40,000. I have all the documentation needed to prove it so don't worry :)- No rust underneath the vehicle, solid car. Arches are all great & paintwork is in nice condition for age. - MOT & TAX EXEMPT- Fully Serviced last year with invoices to prove.- Brand New Wood Veneer - Dashboard & All Door Cards - £1500+- New Battery Fitted - £120- TONS of Service History/Receipts/Etc - FULL V5- Very Rare lovely two-tone colour combination- Potential Links to Max Bygraves (If you find out anything more, please tell me :) )- GREAT INVESTMENT ROLLS ROYCE!!! These are skyrocketing.Areas of Improvement: - As mentioned, needs investigation into the stalling issue. Currently does not start, only turns over. I suspect it needs a new fuel pump.- Some little rust bubbles are appearing around some of the tread plates & little areas around the lights, although very tiny.- Driver seat needs a little stitching, quick easy job.- Windows have a mind of their own...sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.- Some general age related marks, it's 50 years old. So remember it's not perfect, no classic car truly is. I prefer to say 'age related charm marks' ;)- I love them original, but there's a bit of pitting on the chrome bumpers. So...in terms of price. If we were talking Concours condition, with this mileage we are looking at 25k+ if not more!!I'll be honest with you, I have collectively invested close to 20k into this Shadow :O :O *Yep Nervous Sweating right now*The reason why I invested such a pretty 'Penny' is due to the low mileage, it's the perfect long-term investment vehicle. Very rare to get a hold of these days & selling at high prices. Now, I'm not expecting my 20k+ back (although it would be lovely...haha ;) ). I'm looking for a reasonable figure to reflect everything mentioned above. If my reserve is not met, I will just dry store it until I have time to investigate the issue.Thank you so much for slogging through that description. It's such a charming Rolls & has made me very happy. I just wish I had the time to make it a Concours Status Example, which was my plan. Hopefully someone can get it all sorted & may even be able to turn a big healthy profit. I have restored a number of classic cars & I would estimate around 2k would be needed to get Penny all sorted out (fuel pump, cosmetic rust areas, etc.).Based in Gwent, South Wales. Trailer Required.Thank you so much.
