Current customer rating:
For the past 6 years. this magnificent Camaro in Bright Red with Custom Cloth trim has been one man's total pride and joy. With bills for this period totalling a staggering £9000. the car must be possibly one of the very best 3 rd Generation examples available anywhere. The level of maintenance and detailing is astonishing and has taken me most of the afternoon to fully absorb! If you are looking for a truly sorted example of one of America's finest. you've just found it. Call me today to avoid disappointment.
Entering production in September 1966. the Camaro was Chevrolet's response to the success of the iconic Ford Mustang. Some 16 years later. the 3 rd Generation cars were launched featuring fuel injection. a choice or automatic or 5-speed manual transmissions and a range of 4. 6 or 8 cylinder engines. Substantially lighter than their predecessors. these 3 rd Generation cars featured far more angular styling and the choice of either a 4-seater hatchback coupe or a full convertible. The 8-cylinder cars came with a 305 cui V 8 as standard with the option of the bigger 350 cui from 1987 onwards.
Our car dates from 1988 and was probably imported into the UK around 10 years ago. In June 2008. it was acquired by it's 3 rd UK keeper. an American car enthusiast from Southampton for the princely sum of £4500. Recognising that the car required a “little re-commissioning”. he set about gradually improving the car a task that obviously became a labour of love with just 2500 miles covered in the next 6 years and significant expenditure in all areas. To try and list everything would take some time (!) but key work undertaken has included:
2008: Top-end overhaul with new valve springs. new ball-joints. fuel pump. auxiliary belt. replacement dash pod and seat belts.
2009: Re-faced cylinder head. new road springs. replacement tail-shift seal. wheel bearings and track rod ends.
2010: New convertible top and replacement head-lights.
2011: Replacement starter motor and new ignition lock. steering wheel and boss.
2013: Custom stainless steel exhaust and new brake pads.
Outside of these specific items. there are numerous small receipts for detailing including weather seals. hoses. switches. cables. tyres and general servicing and tuning. In addition. the car has benefitted from minor paint-work as well as refurbishment of the optional 16”alloy wheels.
Today the car presents beautifully. Other than just a few light hair-line cracks to the paintwork of the front bumper. the bodywork is near perfect and the interior something to savour. Turn the key and the 5. 0 litre V 8 starts up instantly with a fabulous rumble. Select “Drive” with the B&M shifter and the car moves off smartly with bags of power.
In addition to a full box file of receipts. the car comes with the original sales brochure. Handbook. all MOT Certificates from 2007 and a current Certificate to November 2014. The car also has the benefit of road tax to April 2014 and 2 sets of keys.
