Ford Capri 280 Brooklands Turbo Technics - FORD CONVERSION (2.8i, 2.8 injection)

FORD CAPRI 280 BROOKLANDS - TURBO TECHNICS

This is an incredibly rare Ford Capri 280 Brooklands with the Genuine Turbo Technics F26 200bhp "Ford Showroom" conversion.   Conversion was completed by Ford Hooleys of Worksop who also supplied the car.   There is a copy of the Original Sales Invoice for the car and the ORIGINAL receipt for the Turbo Technics Conversion bought through FORD and completed when the car had a mere 1238 miles!

The car has ONLY 81. 00 miles from new.

Only 3 previous owners from new.   I am the 4th owner.

MOT until 06-September-2014.   Passed this MOT with NO advisories!

TAX until September 2014.

I have owned the car for just over 3 years and in this time have done less than 200 miles. hence the reason for sale.   I am also about to lose my Garage due to imminent building work and there is just no way I can leave this outside!  This car does NOT go out in the wet.   In fact it hardly goes out at all.

During the time I have had the car the following work has been completed;

The car is in excellent condition as can be seen from the photos.   It was resprayed in 1998 however the car has travelled less than 8000 miles since then. contributing to the fact that it remains looking so good after 18 years!

Note the slightly odd "rippled finish" on the front wing rails is NOT corrosion!  It was applied at the time of respray and is a rust prevention coating or sealant.

One key opens both doors and the boot!  There is a genuine FORD spare key.

The Dash has no cracks!

Heater Fan works on both speeds.

It has the original Ford Radio Cassette which works.

The sunroof TILTS and SLIDES as it should.

The Tyres are in excellent condition. loads of life left in them with good deep tread.

The Wheels have some kerbing but I assume they have never been reconditioned so this is to be expected.   The face of the wheels and cover plates look very nice as per photos.

The LSD was reconditioned by Ford at vast expense less than 10k miles ago.

It has the uprated Turbo Technics gearbox that was fitted approximately 20k miles ago.   I believe this is the Gearbox that was fitted to the 230bhp model which has uprated bearings

Cosworth Clutch fitted less than 20k miles ago.

The interior is in lovely condition.

BAD POINTS - and I am being picky!

The original parcel shelf is present and correct but is showing signs of age and is sagging.   I have an excellent replacement available at extra cost. (THIS IS NOT INCLUDED).

The rear bumper is dented.   THERE IS AN ORIGINAL FORD REAR BUMPER INCLUDED IN THE SALE.

Under the bonnet the car is not quite as good as the rest of the car.   A HUGE fuel leak from a split hose (some idiot fitted low pressure fuel hose the High Pressure injection system) has caused some of the "new" paint to lift revealing the old paint underneath.   I have replaced the two offending hoses.  

The car was fully waxoyled at the time of respray.   The Fuel Leak has stripped some of the wax oil off from the near side.   If I kept the car I would get this recoated to prevent any corrosion.

The Rear Seats have some slight marks or scratches to the seatbase.   Please see the additional photos.

The Ashtray is scratched.   See Photobucket photos.

The Handbrake lever has had a set of dog teeth imbeded in it at sometime?! See Photobucket photos.

Front bumper has a tiny patch of white showing through the black paint on its top surface just under the nearside headlight.

During the last trip to the garage they noted one of the front wheels may be out of balance.

One of speakers is apparently "passed its best".

One of the plastic trim panels in the boot has holes drilled in it.   I have an excellent spare available INCLUDED in the sale.

The Power Steering rack is slightly lighter in one direction than the other.   This just needs a quick adjustment to be completed which I have never had time to complete.   Checkout the Capri Power website.   (http://www. capripower. co. uk/forum/index. php?/topic/21552-power-steering-rack-adjustment/)

If I was keeping the car it is probably due an oil service.   It was serviced just before I bought it but i have no receipt for this.   The oil filter does however still look clean and new! (on the outside obviously!)

Bought new 30/09/1987 in Worksop.   Owner was a Doctor living in Sheffield.
Second owner aquired the car 27/09/1989 for £8000.   New owner lived in Gloucester. laterly moving up North.   There is a hand written receipt for the sales transaction.
Third Owner lived in Windsor Area and aquired the vehicle 13/08/2008.
I am the fourth owner.

If you are seriously interested in purchasing this very rare. desirable and appreciating classic then I would seriously urge you to come and view the car before bidding.   If it is DRY and you bring proof of FULLY COMPREHENSIVE insurance then you may test drive the car.   As per eBay rules you are bidding to buy the car not to view and haggle.   I have excellent ebay feedback and have done my best to write a full and accurate advert and provide detailed photos.
