As a standard car with a body of type В«sedanВ», model 99 was rather dull and unattractive, but after adding a turbocharger, which turned out to be a wise step, Saab created a cult car. He looked heavy (and was) and design seemed to be not very successful, but the model 99 with turbocharger was surprisingly easy to drive and provide excellent ride quality. Engine take - of all places - with Triumph Dolomite, Saab just reduced compression ratio, established turbo Garrett TK and added electronic fuel injection.
