Austin A30
Austin A30 was produced from 1951 to 1956. Originally produced in only four-door variant, however, in 1953 appeared two-door modification, which became even more popular than the original version. There were 223264 Austin A30. The price of the base model was £553, still £43 cost the heater and £9 pounds it was necessary to pay for the opportunity to listen to the radio on the road.
Design Austin A30 was developed T.K. Garrett, the specialization of which was aviation. As a result, the car was easy, while keeping to the order of the more rigid construction, if contemporaries. The interior is more than modest, in the base case in the passenger seat was not even a sun visor and washer fluid.
To Austin A30 installed recently developed boxer 4-cylinder engine capacity of 800 cm3. Fuel consumption was only 7.28 l/100 km, however, and the performance characteristics are not impressive: according to the tests magazine Motor, maximum speed was 102 km/h, to achieve it took 42.3 seconds. Also at Austin A30 established hydraulic drum brakes, Lockheed on all wheels, the rear suspension was based on a semi-elliptical springs, and the front was an independent design of the springs.
