Current customer rating: (290 votes ) based onThis car should be considered a daily driver…. not a museum piece. There is no rust or body damage. The paint is still in fairly good condition. but there are a couple of small spots where touch-up is needed to extend the life of the paint job (see pics). I have tried to include as many pictures as possible to accurately show the condition. The doors. rear gate. and hood open and close with no issues. The seats. interior door trim. dash. and control panel are in very good condition. The windows work fine. but replacement of the weather stripping was on my never-got-around-to-it improvement list. The carpet throughout is sun damaged and tops the list for what a new owner might choose to do first.
The engine starts easily and runs smooth. It has the Weber DCOE convesion carb. This carb is easy to adjust and maintains the gentle idle that has the true MG sound. The car has been well maintained with all repairs made as needed to keep her going to work at least once a week. Tires have plenty of tread but also a few years on them. It has electronic ignition (neg ground). smooth shifting on the stick. and it moves nicely into overdrive using the toggle switch on the dash.
This is not a project car. but it has just enough improvement opportunities to make it fun. If you want a perfectly restored MG. please keep looking. This car is for the MG enthusiast who wants to add just enough of themselves to call it their own.
I've owned this car for several years. I'm not a car trader or frequent seller on ebay. but please message me if you have any questions about the car.
Good question from a watcher: "no rust or repaired rust"? The car has been with me 6 1/2 years and there are no structural or visible rust issues. Any underlying conditions in the few places where the paint has a small chip may indicate an emerging issue. can't really tell and don't want to mislead. I will try to add pics of the underside asap.
Added a couple of pics of the underside. trying to look in places I've not looked before. I see only surface rust and road grime. Since I didn't do any of the previous restoration I can't guarantee what can't be easily seen. No loose components or material that I can find.
