Ford Escort Mk1 Mexico 1972 AVO unfinished project.

 

This is an early battery in the boot Mexico with a really solid shell that still retains its original chassis rails. inner wings. bulk heads. boot floor etc. So not the usual basket case. /span>

 

It has had a pair of inner sills at some point in its 42 year life span & a couple of small repairs on the driver's side front floor pan and ‘A' post. has had small repair in the rear spare wheel well / battery tray area but overall it's in very good condition for its age!

 

As can be seen in the photos it has had new front wings and steel bubble arches fitted. a motorsport front panel & new lower radiator cross member.

The car still retains its original back panel which is very good. The doors and outer sills also appear very good. The car was originally ermine white but has been painted red – and now red oxide!

 

As there are no turrets. panhard rod. link boxes etc. fitted. this is a blank canvas & the choice of how to finish it is yours!

 

ENGINE& GEARBOX

 

The car comes with a 1700cc x-flow engine T20 casting 711M block

 

Which has been lightened & balanced the cylinder head has had some porting work done & is fitted with double valve springs & amp; after market spring retainers.

 

Twin 40 DHLA carburettors with K&N air filters and a period C&T inlet manifold & throttle linkage. A big bore exhaust manifold & stainless steel single box exhaust system.

Transmission

 

Correct 3 rail 2000E gearbox complete with original hydraulic bell-housing correct gear lever etc.

Gear ratios are: 1st 2. 972. 2nd 2. 010. 3rd 1. 397. 4th 1. 00

 

Rear axle

Correct AVO mk1 rear axle complete with the Mexico 9" rear brake drums & half shafts & differential ratio unknown

tramp bars fitted to the axle casing & has had some additional strengthening brackets fitted across the length of the casing at some point & comes with Prop shaft  & nbsp;

 

Suspension

 

Front struts are standard disc brake type & have no callipers

Single leaf springs with gas Spax rear shock absorbers

 

Wheels

 

Compomotive CX 7 x 13 alloys with good tyres.

 

The cars comes with:

 

A full set of glass. rear back light units. rear bumper. front headlight bowls& headlights. rear seat. petrol tank. wiper motor. heater unit.  door handles. doors locks. window regulators & RS 3 spoke steering wheel. petrol tank . correct hydraulic brake pedal box.
